# Introduction

Oceanpoint is a protocol connecting Decentralized Finance (DeFi) to real estate assets through tokenization.

Developed and powered by [Blocksquare](https://blocksquare.io), Oceanpoint is a set of smart contracts on Ethereum that form an open-end DAO designed to potentially own an unlimited pool of real estate assets, where anyone can participate without legal restrictions to earn by contributing to a decentralized protocol backed by the real estate economy.

**Oceanpoint rests on three main pillars:**

1. Defi products
2. Real estate tokenization
3. Community governance

# Oceanpoint features

Features reflecting the cryptocurrency category's accepted standard and that enable proper interoperability between the Oceanpoint protocol and other Defi protocols.

* **Non-Custodial:** Assets are deposited to and deployed automatically via smart contracts. Users always maintain 100% ownership of their funds and can retrieve them at any time.
* **Permissionless:** No signup, whitelisting, account verification, or otherwise is required to participate in the Oceanpoint ecosystem.
* **Censorship Resistant:** Users can always interact with the smart contracts directly, which fundamentally cannot be taken down or tampered with.
* **Fraud Resistant:** The qualities listed above position Oceanpoint's ecosystem to minimize the risk of fraudulent activity typically associated with bordered, custodial, trusted, permissioned, closed source, and censored platforms.
* **Simple, Easy-to-use:** Oceanpoint's user interface was designed to be as seamless as possible. One-click deposit and withdrawals plus mechanisms for portfolio tracking and miscellaneous Oceanpoint metrics.
* **On Ethereum, 'Layer 2 Positive':** Oceanpoint is deployed on the base ('Layer 1') Ethereum blockchain, where it can interact with existing DeFi protocols for yield farming. Layer 2 solutions are under active consideration as potential ways to improve the efficiency of the platform.

## Token list

*List of all tokens and token types used in the Oceanpoint ecosystem, including the sBST governance token and the various tokenized pool shares.*

{% hint style="info" %}
**ERC20 Standard**: Industry standard for tokens on Ethereum, this enables tokens in the ecosystem to interact with the existing global DeFi ecosystem (e.g tradeability on Uniswap).
{% endhint %}

### **BST token**

The Blocksquare Token (BST) is the core economic engine that facilitates the building and expansion of Oceanpoint’s capabilities and its community. BST incentivizes participation, facilitates governance, and catalyzes user contribution. Users earn BST through pool participation and, later, participating in Oceanpoint's continuous improvement.

### **sBST token**

The Governance token is the key component of Oceanpoint's first product — the BST staking pool. When users stake BST, Oceanpoint awards them with sBST, a token used by the community to vote on Oceanpoint related decisions. Governance polls are available via [snapshot](https://snapshot.org/#/blocksquare.eth).

### POINT token&#x20;

The protocol also manages the issuance of POINT tokens — a new stablecoin backed by the USD value of tokenized real estate assets that Oceanpoint owns. One (1) single POINT can always be swapped for 1 USD worth of tokenized real estate held within Oceanpoint's asset pool.

### LP tokens

Liquidity provider tokens or LP tokens are **tokens issued to liquidity providers on a decentralized exchange (DEX)** that run on an automated market maker (AMM) protocol. Uniswap, Sushiswap and PancakeSwap are some examples of popular DEXs that distribute LP tokens to their liquidity providers. With the introduction of liquidity pools, Oceanpoint will enable users to directly interact with selected AMM protocols and stake their LP tokens to earn rewards.

### BSPT tokens

Blocksquare Property Tokens (BSPTs) are a standard Ethereum ERC-20 smart contract with a defined maximum issuance of 100,000 tokens for each real estate property, where 1,000 tokens can be issued for each 1% of an asset's capital stack. Each asset has its own BSPT, meaning the token symbol varies from property to property i.e. BSPT-XYZ-##. The token standard features on-chain property valuation, a legally binding tokens enforceable by a standardized corporate resolution stored on IPFS. [Learn more about it.](https://blocksquare.io/products/tokenization-protocol)<br>

## DeFi Primitives

*Features representing the mechanics of the DeFi products offered as part of Oceanpoint.*

### Governance pool

At launch, Oceanpoint offers a simple, one-sided interest-yielding Governance pool that enable users to passively increase their holdings by simply depositing the desired amount of BST to earn staking rewards. The Governance pool is the first product on Oceanpoint and awards users with sBST — the governance token used by the community to vote on Oceanpoint related decisions. Governance polls are available via [snapshot](https://snapshot.org/#/blocksquare.eth).

{% hint style="success" %}
This feature has been introduced with v0.1

[Learn more](/oceanpoint-pools/about-pool-mechanics/governance-pools/main-pool-sbst)
{% endhint %}

### Asset pools

#### Owners pool

The second product will introduce staking for tokenized real estate assets, enabling real estate owners to create a new passive income stream with their existing real estate properties. Just like miners use GPUs to earn ETH, so can landlords stake their real estate asset to earn BST. The more real estate value they stake, the larger the cut from the monthly reward pool.

{% hint style="success" %}
This feature has been introduced with v0.2

[Learn more](/oceanpoint-pools/about-pool-mechanics/asset-pools)
{% endhint %}

#### Community pool

As the protocol grows with tokenized real estate properties, some of these properties will be made available for purchase via [marketplace.oceanpoint.fi](https://marketplace.oceanpoint.fi/) by members of the community who create an account and pass KYC verification (Some countries might not be supported). Buyers of BSPT tokens will be able to hold them on their registered wallet(s) and earn revenues in DAI stablecoin, or choose to stake their BSPT tokens in the Community pool. By staking, holders will direct property revenues towards the DAO's treasury, while receiving a compensation in BST.

{% hint style="warning" %}
This feature is planned to be introduced with v0.4

[Learn more](/oceanpoint-pools/about-pool-mechanics/asset-pools)
{% endhint %}

### Liquidity pools

The third product to be launched are liquidity pools and LP token staking. These will be deployed on other DeFi protocols (e.g Uniswap, Balancer, Sushiswap, 1inch) based on community governance decisions, and connected with the Oceanpoint UI to provide an easy-to-use experience. Once introduced, anyone will be able to provide liquidity to the protocol and passively increase their holdings of BST through staking of Liquidiy Provider tokens.

{% hint style="success" %}
This feature has been introduced with v0.3

[Learn more](/oceanpoint-pools/about-pool-mechanics/liquidity-pools)
{% endhint %}

### **Stable pools**

Once the Total Value Locked (TVL) in the Asset pool reaches a level the community deems appropriate, stablecoin liquidity pools on 3rd party DeFi protocols will be launched together with an incentive program for liquidity providers to start supporting POINT tokens, the protocol's native stablecoin.

{% hint style="warning" %}
This feature is planned to be introduced with v0.5

## Web3 UI

*Features pertaining to the Oceanpoint frontend to enable a more seamless experience for users.*

* **Wallets:** Currently the UI supports interaction with Metamask and WalletConnect compatible wallets, while other popular wallets will be added in future versions based on community requests.
* **Multi-lingual support:** Like our pool strategies, website content is modular, and users can interact with Oceanpoint in their native language. As more translations are compiled, they can similarly be added alongside available translations. *Note: Multi-language support is planned for v1.0*
* **Data:** Oceanpoint leverages a purpose built subgraph, as well as the official [Blocksquare subgraph](https://thegraph.com/explorer/subgraph?id=0xd09671619223b505418fbf63d180ccce52e2255d-0\&view=Overview) to swiftly deliver on-chain data to the UI. This enables faster load times for users. The Oceanpoint project has also [received a small grant from The Graph Foundation.](https://thegraph.com/blog/wave-three-funding)

# Oceanpoint participant

The following terms outline the participants in the Oceanpoint ecosystem and the roles that they play.

# Governance pools

The governance pools category has been introduced with v0.5

{% hint style="info" %}
**Current reward schedule**

125,000 BST / month split between Main and Marketplace pools based on Pool TVL
{% endhint %}

Welcome to the Governance Pools section of Oceanpoint documentation. As of version 0.5, our governance system has expanded to include both the main Governance Pool and the innovative Marketplace Pools. This document provides an overview of how these pools operate, the rewards schedule, and how users can participate.

Governance Pools in Oceanpoint are designed to enhance community engagement and reward participation through a structured staking and reward system. By staking BST (Blocksquare Token) in these pools, users can earn rewards and participate in the governance of the Oceanpoint ecosystem.

### Pool mechanics

The pool mechanics for both the Main Governance Pool and the Marketplace Pools are designed to be user-friendly while ensuring the stability and growth of the Oceanpoint ecosystem.

#### **Main pool (sBST)**

In the Main Governance Pool, users start by connecting their wallets, such as MetaMask, to the Oceanpoint web interface. By depositing BST into the Governance Pool, they receive sBST tokens that represent their stake in the pool. As the pool accrues more BST through liquidity mining, rewards, and asset revenues, the value of these sBST tokens increases proportionally to the pool’s growth.&#x20;

After depositing BST, there is a 48-hour lock period during which withdrawals are disabled. This feature prevents front-running reward distributions and promotes long-term participation. To exit the pool, users simply send their sBST tokens back to the pool and receive their underlying BST after the lock-up period.&#x20;

The system is flexible, allowing users to move their sBST tokens between wallets or utilize them in other DeFi strategies. Additionally, there are no fees for depositing or withdrawing from the Governance Pool, aside from Ethereum gas fees.

* A 48-hour lock period after depositing BST prevents withdrawals, ensuring fair reward distribution.
* Flexibility: Move sBST tokens between wallets or use them in other DeFi strategies.
* No fees, aside from Ethereum gas fees, for depositing or withdrawing.
* Your sBST tokens increase in value proportionally to the pool’s growth.

#### **Marketplace Pools**

Marketplace Pools bring a new dynamic to the Oceanpoint ecosystem by allowing marketplace operators to present their ideas to the BST community. Operators detail their business plans and KPIs for community review. If the community approves, a marketplace pool campaign can be initiated, which requires the operator to deposit a minimum of 500 sBST as collateral.

Community members can then explore these marketplace projects and pledge their sBST to support ventures they believe in. This participation not only provides essential support for new marketplaces but also offers potential rewards based on the pool’s performance and the marketplace's success.

The lock-up periods in Marketplace Pools ensure commitment and stability. Certified Partners (CPs) must lock their collateral for 12 months, underscoring their long-term dedication to the project. Community pledges are locked for 6 months, half the duration of the CP’s lock period. If the pool balance drops below 100,000 sBST for more than 10 days, the lock is lifted to prompt quick action from the CP. This dual-lock mechanism ensures that CPs actively manage their marketplaces and maintain pool health, which benefits the entire community.

* Marketplace operators present ideas to the BST community, detailing business plans and KPIs.
* If approved, initiate a campaign by depositing a minimum of 500 sBST as collateral.
* Community members pledge sBST to support projects and earn rewards based on performance.
* Certified Partners (CPs) lock collateral for up to 24 months, while community pledges are locked for up to 12 months.
* If the pool balance drops below 100,000 sBST for over 10 days, CPs or other community members must reactivate the pool by depositing the missing sBST and reach a full balance.

#### Conclusion

The introduction of Marketplace Pools alongside the Main Governance Pool marks a significant evolution in the Oceanpoint ecosystem. These pools not only incentivize participation and long-term commitment but also democratize the growth and success of new marketplace projects. By engaging with Governance Pools, you contribute to the decentralized governance and vibrant future of tokenized real estate within the Blocksquare ecosystem.

For detailed steps on how to participate, deposit, and withdraw from the pools, please refer to the respective sections of this documentation. We look forward to your active involvement in driving the success and growth of Oceanpoint.<br>

# Main pool (sBST)

This feature is LIVE since v0.1

{% hint style="info" %}
**Current reward schedule**

{% endhint %}

### **Pool mechanics**

The Governance pool is designed for accessibility. Connect your wallet (e.g. MetaMask) with BST as the deposit asset, and make your deposit through the Oceanpoint web interface. When you deposit, you’ll receive a sBST token that represents your stake in the pool. As the pool accrues more BST (liquidity mining, rewards, asset revenues), that tokenized stake will grant more of the underlying asset.\
\
To exit the pool, simply send your sBST back, and you will receive the underlying asset. While your funds are in the pool, you are free to move your tokenized stake to other wallets you control, perhaps to deposit it into an interest-generating strategy on other DeFi protocols.

{% hint style="success" %}
There are **no fees to deposit to or withdraw from** the Governance pool (beyond Ethereum gas fees).
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
After a user deposits their BST to the Governance pool, a 48 hour lock period disables withdrawals for the user. This security feature is designed to prevent front running reward distributions and promote long-term participation.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
While the `addReward` function is an external function that can be called by anyone to deposit BST rewards into the governance pool, it is unlikely non Oceanpoint accounts and contracts shall use it. Nonetheless, if someone else would call it, this would essentially be accounted as a “donation”.

# Marketplace pools

This feature is LIVE since v0.5

The fifth iteration of Oceanpoint beta will introduce Marketplace pools.

Marketplace pools enable participants who stake BST in the [Main pool (sBST)](/oceanpoint-pools/about-pool-mechanics/governance-pools/main-pool-sbst)to support new and emerging certified partners to launch their tokenized real estate marketplace with Blocksquare's infrastructure.

## Background

Those familiar with how Blocksquare's infrastructure and business model are designed know that marketplace operated by third parties (Certified Partners) are at the core of the ecosystem. As Blocksquare's vision is to power 1000s of marketplaces across the globe, connecting investors to real estate opportunities in their region, launching and operating your own branded marketplace enables a company to grow a real estate tokenization business.

{% hint style="info" %}
Access and use of Blocksquare’s real estate tokenization infrastructure is possible through the acquisition of a lifetime software license that grants registration of the Certified Partner within the smart contract system.

### Understanding marketplace pools

Marketplace pools are a new way for our community to engage with our platform, and designed to democratize the creation and operation of marketplaces within our ecosystem, offering a unique blend of participation opportunities for both marketplace operators (CPs) and community members (sBST holders). By engaging with marketplace pools, users can directly influence the ecosystem's growth and diversity.

If you've ever dreamed of operating your own marketplace for tokenized real estate or wished to have a stake in one, marketplace pools are your gateway. Through a process of community support and investment, marketplace pools are set to boost the launch and growth of new marketplaces within our ecosystem.

## Pool Mechanics

### A. For Marketplace Operators

If you have an idea to launch a new tokenized real estate marketplace powered by Blocksquare, you can present it to the BST community. If the community sees potential in your proposed business, they can support your project by pledging sBST tokens into your marketplace pool.&#x20;

Here's the process:

1. **Apply & get in touch:** Reach out to Blocksquare's team to apply for listing.
2. **Raise community support:** Share your marketplace concept with the community, set clear KPIs you plan to achieve, and establish an execution timeline. When ready, a vote will be created on Snapshot for the community to decide if your project should launch a marketplace pool campaign on Oceanpoint.
3. **Initiate your pool:** If your project is successfully voted on, you'll start your marketplace pool by depositing a minimum of 500 sBST. The more you depoist, the stronger the APY incentive for community members to pledge their sBST to your pool.
4. **Launch campaign:** The community can then pledge sBST to your pool until it reaches the target amount of 100,000 sBST.

### B. For community members (sBST holders)

As an sBST holder, you have the opportunity to invest in marketplace pools that you believe will become successful.&#x20;

Here's how you can participate:

1. **Explore Opportunities:** Look for marketplace projects that align with your interests and strategies.
2. **Pledge sBST:** You can contribute your sBST to these pools, becoming part of their success.
3. **Earn Rewards:** As the marketplace grows, reaches their targets and lists tokenized real estate assets, the marketplace pool score will increase and earn higher APY for your pledged sBST share.&#x20;

Note that marketplace pools compete for BST rewards, so choose wisely which projects you support.

### Key Features

* **Flexible contributions:** Anyone with sBST can contribute to marketplace pools up to the 100,000 sBST limit, with initial and maximum contribution limits designed to ensure fair participation during active campaigns.
* **Rewards distribution:** Marketplace pools compete between each other for a share of rewards, based on the sBST contributed and other performance metrics.
* **Rewards eligibility:** To earn any rewards, a marketplace pool is required to hold 100,000 sBST at any given moment.
* **Withdrawal locks:** Each marketplace pool features dual lock periods for withdrawals, designed to secure commitment. On one side, community pledges get locked, and on the other the Certified Partner (CP) initial deposit is locked:
  * **Community Lock:** This lock activates when the pool hits 100,000 sBST during an active marketplace pool campaign and ensures community investments remain committed to the pool's success for a predefined period, set at half the duration of the CP's lock period. If the pool's balance drops below 100,000 sBST for more than 10 consecutive days, this lock is lifted for community members to withdraw their pledged sBST to encourage responsiveness of the CP to top up the pool's missing sBST if no other community members are willing to enter the pool.
  * **CP Lock:** The CP's withdrawal lock period is set at twice the length of the community's, underscoring their higher level of commitment to the pool. This period begins once the pool hits the 100,000 sBST target, reinforcing the CP's responsibility to maintain pool health and success. This mechanism ensures the CP is incentivized to actively manage and support their marketplace.

## FAQ

<details>

<summary>How can my company apply to launch a marketplace pool?</summary>

To apply, first get in touch with the sales team at Blocksquare and mention you would like to launch your marketplace through the Oceanpoint Launchpad.

[**Get in touch**](https://blocksquare.typeform.com/to/BsDXI1)

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can any company apply for the Oceanpoint Launchpad?</summary>

Yes, any company from any jurisdiction is welcome to apply. Please note, our analysts and governance board will assess your project application.&#x20;

In most cases, you will hear back from our team within several workdays, and you can discuss the details at this stage. Terms and conditions, including the required collateral and KPIs structure, are discussed individually with every marketplace project during the selection process.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What can projects do in preparation of their launch campaign?</summary>

Once approved, projects get the full Blocksquare team support leading up to the pledge campaign. You will be in close communication with us throughout the process.

Generally, presenting your marketplace vision to our community involves not only writing blogs, articles and growing your own community on social media, but also creating content (visuals & video) for our community of BST holders to get to know your team and the go-to market strategy you are working to implement.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How is a marketplace pool APY calculated?</summary>

Each marketplace pool can earn a different APY based on its score. Initially, the score is calculated based on two parameters:

1. Certified Partner lock period (less = higher score)
2. Certified Partner collateral (more = higher score)

*<mark style="background-color:yellow;">Note, only sBST pledged by community members earn APY, while the CP's collateral only earns APY from the Main pool's staking rewards.</mark>*

</details>

<details>

<summary>Isn't the pool score calculation oversimplified?</summary>

Initially, we expect only a handful of marketplace pools being launched, and therefore, diversification between them will not be as important. In time, as marketplaces mature, additional complexity using indexed on-chain data will be brought into the pools score calculation, incentivising operators and community to support more ambitious goals e.g. value tokenized, number of listed/offered/traded properties, revenues distributed.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What happens after the community lock period ends?</summary>

After the community lock period is passed, users can decide to continue staking OR withdraw their sBST to stop support for the marketplace operator.

*<mark style="background-color:yellow;">Note, if a pool has less than 100,000 sBST, either the community or the CP need to deposit sBST until 100% is filled for the pool to start earning APY again.</mark>*

</details>

<details>

<summary>What happens after the CP lock period ends?</summary>

At the end of the term (e.g. 12 months after launch), the CP's performance is evaluated against the declared target KPIs. If the CP has reached its target KPIs, the collateral becomes available for the CP to withdraw, opening a position for other user to pledge sBST and for the pool to continue earning APY.

</details>

# Detailed functionalities

## CP initial deposit

The initial deposit by a Certified Partner (CP) serves as a collateral to ensure the marketplace team's commitment and performance. This deposit:

* Acts as a guarantee against underperformance, safeguarding community members.
* Is required to be a minimum of 500 sBST, ensuring that CPs have a vested interest in the success of their marketplace.
* The higher the CP initial deposit, the higher the APY the marketplace pool will earn for the community.
* A marketplace pool must be maintained at 100,000 sBST at all times to qualify for BST rewards, emphasizing the importance of meeting community expectations.

## Campaign configuration

The exclusive control over campaign configuration by Blocksquare is crucial for maintaining the quality and viability of marketplace proposals. This control ensures:

* Compliance with KYB and collaboration agreements, ensuring that only verified and committed partners can initiate marketplace pools.
* The community's ability to support new operators through informed decisions, reinforcing the ecosystem's integrity.

## Maximum pledge

For each marketplace pool campaign, the maximum sBST amount you can pledge increases daily, starting from an initial limit. This continues until the campaign's midpoint is reached. This means that during an active marketplace pool campaign, individual wallets are capped to invest a limited amount of sBST. This maximum pledge limit linearly increases during the campaign and is completely lifted once the campaign is half way through. This mechanism encourages wider participation by:

* Allowing smaller investors to participate early in the campaign creating higher diversification of pool stakeholders.
* Gradually enabling larger investments, ensuring that pools have the opportunity to be fully funded while maintaining equitable access.

{% hint style="info" %}
For example, in a 30-day campaign aiming to crowdfund 90,000 sBST with an initial maximum pledge of 9,000 sBST, the pledge limit grows by 5,400 sBST each day. So, by day 15, you could pledge up to 90,000 sBST.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
This design encourages early participation while gradually allowing for larger contributions, ensuring broad and fair community engagement.
{% endhint %}

## Post-campaign deposits

Allowing further sBST deposits after the campaign end date addresses the need to maintain the required sBST balance for earning rewards, offering flexibility by:

* Permitting CPs and community members to add funds to maintain and meet the 100,000 sBST requirement, ensuring the pool remains eligible for rewards.
* Introducing a safeguard mechanism where the community lock is lifted if the pool's balance drops below the threshold, encouraging prompt action to maintain pool health.

### Withdrawal conditions

Withdrawal conditions for Certified Partners are designed to balance their ability to reclaim their collateral with the need to protect the interests of pool participants by:

* Allowing withdrawals under specific conditions such as unsuccessful campaigns or governance board evaluations, ensuring CP accountability.
* Providing a clear signal to the governance board through community withdrawals, allowing for responsive adjustments to pool operations.
* **Community withdrawals:** Marketplace pools implement a withdrawal lock period for community contributors, triggered when the pool reaches the 100,000 sBST cap. This lock ensures community investments remain committed to the pool's success for a predefined period, set at half the duration of the CP's lock period. If the pool's balance drops below 100,000 sBST for more than 10 days, this lock is lifted to encourage CP responsiveness.
* **CP withdrawals:** The CP's withdrawal lock period is set at twice the length of the community's, underscoring their higher level of commitment to the pool. This period begins once the pool hits the 100,000 sBST target, reinforcing the CP's responsibility to maintain pool health and success. This mechanism ensures the CP is incentivized to actively manage and support their marketplace.

### Collateral liquidation

When launching a marketplace pool, Certified Partners define a set of KPIs they intend to achieve within a maximum of 24 months. These KPIs can be anything, from number of registered users, assets under tokenization, offerings completed, secondary market properties, revenues distributed, and so on. To ensure commitment, an amount of at least 500 sBST is deposited as collateral when activating a marketplace pool. At the end, an evaluation conducted by the governance board takes place to verify if the CP has achieved the KPIs set forth at the start.

The governance board's authority in deciding on collateral liquidation and lock extension underscores the role of centralized control in maintaining pool governance while transitioning towards a DAO model, ensuring:

* Decisions are made based on pre-defined KPIs and campaign outcomes, aligning with the ecosystem's goals.
* A pathway towards decentralized governance, reflecting the community's evolving role in ecosystem management.

### Pools reward distribution

A fixed amount of BST is allocated to all active marketplace pools based on governance board vote. The reward distribution mechanism is tailored to address the unique aspects of our token model by calculating rewards based on the proportionate score of the pool, ensuring marketplace pools with a higher score offer a higher APY for the community of supporters.

### Non-Transferability of Staked Tokens

The decision to make staked tokens non-transferable within the pool is critical for:

* Maintaining accurate reward calculations and distributions, preventing manipulation.
* Ensuring the integrity of the staking process, reinforcing the commitment of participants to their chosen marketplace pools.

### **Pool mechanics**

Oceanpoint enables anyone to start earning BST with tokenized real estate assets through the process of staking BSPT tokens. Staking [BSPT tokens](/oceanpoint-features#bspt-tokens) is available only for real estate properties tokenized through Blocksquare's tokenization protocol.

Once the tokenization is achieved, eligible BSPT (Blocksquare Property Tokens) can be staked on Oceanpoint by their holder. When depositing BSPT for staking, the smart contract awards the user sBSPT tokens based on the asset's valuation and current projected APY, which define the user's share in the respective asset pool. In return, the protocol locks the BSPT tokens into the Asset pool for a defined period of time.

**Current lockup periods for respective pools:**

* Issuer pool — 6 months lock-up period
* Community pool — 1 month lock-up period (coming with v0.4)

### BSPT fees and impacts on staking

BSPT tokens have an integrated transaction fee of 1,5%.

Fees are always paid in property tokens, e.g. if a transaction involves 10,000 BSPT tokens, the buyer will receive 10,000 - 1.5% tokens = 9,850 BSPT tokens on their wallet.

The fee is credited to network stakeholders automatically distributed to beneficiaries:

* 0.5% goes to the platform operator (Certified Partner)
* 0.5% goes to the token issuer (Real estate owner / token issuer)
* 0.5% goes to the DeFi bridge (Oceanpoint)

When staking, these fees will be executed and impact the amount of BSPT one shall receive back at time of withdrawal, except when staking is done by the token issuer wallet.

{% hint style="info" %}
Initially, only real estate owners (token issuers) shall be able to stake BSPT tokens of their own properties, while with v0.4 community members will be able to purchase tokenized real estate assets and stake them to earn BST.

The second product introduces the ability for owners of real estate properties to stake their assets and earn crypto.

Oceanpoint incentivises real estate owners to tokenize their real estate properties through staking, enabling them to create a new passive income stream.

After tokenizing their real estate asset via Blocksquare's tokenization system, [BSPT](https://oceanpoint.gitbook.io/docs/oceanpoint-features#bspt-tokens) tokens are minted to the owner's wallet, which allows them to start staking on Oceanpoint. By default, 10,000 BSPT tokens are minted to the owner, which represents 10% of the property's total value.

{% hint style="success" %}

#### Do you own real estate?

To submit your property, please [fill out this form](https://blocksquare.typeform.com/to/R0QqOB1N).&#x20;
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
The more real estate value one tokenizes and stakes, the larger the share in the Asset pool, the larger the amount of BST one might earn from the rewards treasury.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
By tokenizing and subsequently staking BSPT, the asset owner commits to a 6 months lock-up period through which tokens and earned rewards can't be withdrawn.

To additionally protect the BST community from supply inflation, earned rewards are vested for 24 months after withdrawal.
{% endhint %}

After six months, owners can access their rewards & have full control on the steps they take next:

1. keep staking BSPT tokens,
2. sell BSPT tokens to Oceanpoint (not yet available),
3. sell BSPT tokens through the Oceanpoint marketplace (only eligible properties), or
4. reverse the process of tokenization, no strings attached.

If the asset owner opts for the second or third choice, they will need to start paying the proportionate amount of revenues the asset is earning to either Oceanpoint or marketplace investors (paid in DAI), as per the corporate resolution signed at time of tokenization.

If the asset owner withdraws BSPT, Oceanpoint essentially does not have any claim over the economic rights of the real estate asset and the owner is free from any financial, legal obligations towards the protocol.

<details>

<summary>What is the reason for distributing staking rewards?</summary>

The BST tokens rewards mechanism is a way to reward property owners for helping us grow our community of token holders, while at the same time increasing the protocol’s Total Value Locked — the number one metric in DeFi.

<details>

<summary>What is the Asset pool's monthly rewards schedule?</summary>

Asset pool staking has become available with v0.2, where 250,000 BST or 50% of all monthly rewards go towards real estate owners staking in the Asset pool. With the release of v0.3, monthly rewards for the asset pool are set to drop to 125,000 BST or 25% of the total monthly rewards allocation.

</details>

### How much could I make with my property?

Rewards auto-compound based on the user's pool share. What property owners can expect from staking their tokenized real estate asset is presented in the infographic below, but ultimately one's earning rate will be heavily influenced by the property valuation in comparison to the total value locked within the Asset pool.

![Earnings simulation](/files/iuC5wevxrEsMysgVudLM)

{% hint style="info" %}
The above is only a simulation and actual results might differ. Total rewards are subject to change depending on DAO governance rulings.

Monthly rewards per user vary depending on a user’s pool share. The larger the TVL, the lower the amount of BST a user might receive.

All rewards are paid out in BST and their USD value is subject to market conditions, however 1 BST will always be 1 BST.
{% endhint %}

### **Pool mechanics**

To start staking a real estate asset, an owner must first tokenize it through Blocksquare's tokenization protocol.

Once the process is achieved, the real estate asset owner will be able to mint 10,000 BSPT (Blocksquare Property Tokens) and stake them on Oceanpoint based on the asset's valuation. In return, the protocol locks the BSPT tokens into the Asset pool for a min. period of 6 months.

After 6 months, the BSPT can be unlocked by the user together with all BST rewards.

{% hint style="success" %}
Please note, that your BST rewards shall be vested for a period of 24 months to prevent flooding the market. This measure is in place to protect BST investors from circulating supply inflation.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Finders fee**

Please note, there is a "finders fee" that is paid to the referrer (i.e. Certified Partner) of a particular property at time of withdrawal. The reward is pre-set to 10% of accumulated BST at construction.

At first, the "finders fee" can be updated by the Oceanpoint founding team, while at a later phase and according to the [Decentralization plan](/community/decentralization-plan), admin rights shall be moved to the DAO's governance token, [sBST](https://docs.oceanpoint.fi/oceanpoint-features#sbst-token).

The fourth product introduces a new incentive mechanism for the web3 community to buy tokenized real estate properties and earn crypto through staking.

Staking your BSPT is not mandatory to earn revenues, however, staking enables users to redirect regular rental revenues paid out in DAI stablecoin towards the DAO's treasury and in return receive a compensation in BST.

{% hint style="success" %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
By staking BSPT, the community member commits to a 1 months lock-up period through which tokens and earned rewards can't be withdrawn.

*No vesting on earned rewards is applied after withdrawal.*
{% endhint %}

# Liquidity pools

This feature is LIVE since v0.3

{% hint style="info" %}
**Current reward schedule**

250,000 BST / month
{% endhint %}

The third product to be launched are liquidity pools. These will be deployed on other DeFi protocols (e.g Uniswap, Balancer, Sushiswap, 1inch) based on governance decisions made by the community.

As with the Governance pool where staking BST is possible, Liquidity pools are designed for accessibility, connecting the Oceanpoint UI with liquidity pools deployed on e.g. Uniswap to provide an easy-to-use experience. Once introduced, anyone will be able to provide liquidity to the protocol and passively increase their holdings of BST.

### **Pool mechanics**

Although the transaction of assets and the subsequent staking of Liquidity Provider tokens or LP tokens to earn BST functions seamlessly for an end user, we explain the process in 3 steps for ease of understanding.

{% hint style="success" %}
{% endhint %}

#### Step 1: Deposit liquidity pool assets

Connect your wallet (e.g. MetaMask) holding both assets of the Liquidity pool e.g. BST:ETH. Access the interface provided by the liquidity protocol e.g. Uniswap through the "Add liquidity" button provided under the *Info* section of the Liquidity pool row you would like to participate in to move your assets to the underlying Liquidity pool.

<figure><img src="/files/6zvgHymz1G3dwYmPdwz7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Step 2: Receive Liquidity Provider (LP) tokens representing the pool assets

When you initiate a deposit of assets to a liquidity pool on a third party exchange like Uniswap, the protocol will issue LP tokens in return to mark your position in the pool. Instead of simply holding them in your wallet, Oceanpoint enables users to stake them to earn extra rewards in BST.

#### Step 3: Stake your LP tokens to earn BST

Oceanpoint will deposit your received LP tokens into staking contract designed for LP staking. In return the user receives a "staked" version of the same LP token. As the Liquidity pool accrues more BST (liquidity mining, rewards, asset revenues), that staked LP token will grant more of the underlying asset.\
\
To exit the pool, simply send your staked LP tokens back and you will receive the underlying assets together with the accrued BST rewards. While your LP tokens are staked, you won't be able to move your sLP tokens to other wallets.

{% hint style="info" %}
There are **no fees to deposit to or withdraw from** the Liquidity pool (beyond Ethereum gas fees).
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
After a user deposits assets to a Liquidity pool, a 48 hour lock period disables withdrawals for the user. This security feature is designed to prevent front running reward distributions and promote long-term participation.
{% endhint %}

# Stable pools

This feature is planned with v0.6

Once the Total Value Locked (TVL) in the Asset pool reaches a level the community deems appropriate, stablecoin liquidity pools on 3rd party DeFi protocols will be launched together with an incentive program for liquidity providers to start supporting POINT tokens, the protocol's native stablecoin.

### Pool mechanics

Just like with the other pool where staking to earn BST is possible, Stable pools will be designed for accessibility and ease-of-use, connecting the Oceanpoint UI with liquidity pools deployed on third party protocols.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Details on exact pool mechanics are yet to be released.
{% endhint %}

# Supply, Issuance, & Rewards

The main token for reward distribution of generated yields, is the native BST token. Users earn BST tokens in three ways:

* staking in Oceanpoint's Governance pool,
* providing liquidity on community selected liquidity pools or stable pools,
* staking a tokenized real estate property in Oceanpoint's Asset pool,

BST tokens are dropped to pools (on unscheduled times), and held by the rewarded pool smart contract until the user withdraws from that pool, which triggers the contract to deliver the BST to their address.

## BST Rewards

40% out of the 100M BST total supply have been allocated for liquidity mining. Although this initially set amount to incentivise the early community could be changed through a governance vote, the distribution schedule is currently set to:

* 1,000,000 BST / month for the initial 3 months after launch
* 500,000 BST / month until the 40M BST is reached (approx. 6 years)

{% hint style="info" %}
**Liquidity mining** is a mechanism or process in which participants supply cryptocurrencies into liquidity pools, and are rewarded with fees and tokens based on their share.
{% endhint %}

Rewards will initially be directed 100% to the Governance pool. Once real estate staking is introduced with v0.2, the monthly reward will be split 50/50 between Governance pool and the first Asset pool for real estate owners.

With v0.3, when Liquidity pools are introduced, the BST:ETH liquidity pool deployed on Uniswap v2 will receive 50% of monthly BST rewards, while the Governance pool and Asset pool shall split 50/50 the remaining 50%. The split between pools shall from that point on be governed by the community through voting, however, the team encourages a split as depicted in the graphic below.

<figure><img src="/files/DPlQvzqZ8FPn4iKXiLbP" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### BST buybacks

Once real estate owners start staking in the Asset pool, their real estate asset tokens i.e. BSPT become part of Oceanpoint, and after the 6 months lock-up period, these tokenized properties might become available for the community to acquire the legal rights to revenues generated by these real estate assets.

Members of the community will be able to stake BSPT tokens with the introduction of the Community asset pool with v0.4 to redirect DAI revenues to the DAO's treasury while receiving a compensation in BST rewards.

Initially, the accumulated revenues will be used by the DAO's Governance board to execute BST token purchases on the open market so that the acquired BST can be then burned, effectively decreasing token supply.

{% hint style="info" %}
Note that BST is a regular old school ERC-20 token deployed in 2018 and that the only mechanism to "burn" tokens is to send them to the Ethereum "dead" address `0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dead`

*Sending tokens to the above address does not reflect on circulating supply value, however, it does effectively lock out that amount from circulation as the address has no known corresponding private key.*

# Staking tokenized real estate

Oceanpoint enables anyone to start earning BST with tokenized real estate assets. Firstly, the real estate property needs to be tokenized through Blocksquare's tokenization protocol.

Once the property has been tokenized, a pre-agreed amount of BSPT tokens will be made available based on the asset owners strategy. Currently Oceanpoint enables several options

#### Staking

* [x] Staking BSPT for real estate owners
* [x] Staking BSPT for community participants

#### Distribution

* [ ] Distributing BSPT via primary offering
* [x] Distributing BSPT via secondary market

#### Payment currency

* [x] DAI
* [ ] USDC
* [ ] Fiat

To define how much of an individual property's capital stack can be tokenized, our team will ask a property owner to disclose financial information about the property and run it through Blocksquare's Risk Assessment Framework — a comprehensive analysis tool that helps us understand the financial qualities of the underlying real estate asset.

{% hint style="info" %}
Real estate owners can initiate a request for tokenization using [this online form](https://blocksquare.typeform.com/to/R0QqOB1N) and schedule an intro call with our team who will guide them through the whole process.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}

#### What are BSPT tokens?

Blocksquare Property Tokens (BSPTs) are a standard Ethereum ERC-20 token smart contract with a defined maximum issuance of 100,000 tokens for each real estate property, where 1,000 tokens can be issued for each 1% of an asset's capital stack.

Each asset has its own BSPT, meaning the token symbol varies from property to property i.e. BSPT-XYZ-##. The token standard features on-chain property valuation, a legally binding tokens enforceable by a standardized corporate resolution stored on IPFS. [Learn more about it.](https://blocksquare.io/products/tokenization-protocol)
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}

#### Ethereum transactions

Transactions in Ethereum are cryptographically signed data messages that contain a set of instructions. These instructions can interpret to sending Ether from one Ethereum account to another or interacting with a smart contract deployed on the blockchain.

Initiating a transaction involves paying a fee to the network for it to be processed. This means you will need to hold a small amount of Ether on your wallet to interact with Oceanpoint and deposit/withdraw BSPT.
{% endhint %}

### Step 1: Connect your wallet

Open [app.oceanpoint.fi](https://app.oceanpoint.fi) on your Chrome or Brave browser and click *connect wallet* in the top right section of the screen.

![](/files/F2r8h1fYOJBq8HMtXBiv)

A pop-up to select your wallet type will display. For this guide, we will use Metamask.

![](/files/dZ0JuDEoyeTnt3Si8X4m)

Make sure you are connected to ***Mainnet*** with the Ethereum wallet account where you hold BSPT tokens.

<div align="center"><img src="/files/SyonBn59xGDkGwm8wQtR" alt=""></div>

### Step 2: Approve your property token

Once you have connected your wallet, scroll down until you see the Asset pool section.

![](/files/kX7KKxjS0HX7AfpnVwN3)

Click on it to expand. Choose your property from the drop down on the left side. To make searching easier, the "hide tokens without balance" toggle switch is turned on by default.

![](/files/kYNIs7U1z5wL6ThAbntI)

After selecting the property you would like to stake, you will first need to allow Oceanpoint to interact with the BSPT tokens on your wallet. To do so, click ***approve*** and confirm the transaction in Metamask.

![](/files/0us3CAKC8IrcAyfO76pv)

<div align="center"><img src="/files/fgoID0VSHDLu6gZ3bCXd" alt=""></div>

{% hint style="info" %}

#### What is token allowance?

Because the Ethereum blockchain allows transactions with smart contracts and those smart contracts can be facilitated by 3rd parties – like a DEX or Protocol Relayer – permissions have to be granted to the 3rd party by token owners before those smart contracts can execute.

Setting token allowance does not mean you are giving your tokens to the 3rd party. All it means is you are willingly allowing the smart contract to transfer up-to a specified amount of a token on your behalf.

Oceanpoint enables you to manually approve token allowance amounts by switching off the "infinite" approve toggle button.
{% endhint %}

### Step 3: Deposit your property tokens

Once the approval transaction is confirmed, you will be able to deposit your real estate property tokens in the Asset pool to earn staking rewards.

Enter the desired token amount in the input field, than click ***Deposit*** and confirm the transaction in Metamask.

![](/files/NN0PF64hEkolweonY0oE)

{% hint style="warning" %}
Please note, depositing BSPT to the Asset pool is subject to a 6 months lock period. This means you will be able to withdraw only after 6 months. <mark style="background-color:red;">Furthermore, depositing additional tokens of the same property won't be possible before the lock period ends.</mark>

See [Asset pools](/oceanpoint-pools/about-pool-mechanics/asset-pools) for a deeper dive into pool mechanics.
{% endhint %}

Once your deposit transaction is confirmed, refresh your browser to see your deposited value and pool share.

![](/files/ukrf9TzTFaVFYPEgsplj)

### Step 4: Earn crypto

Just like staking in the [Main pool (sBST)](/oceanpoint-pools/about-pool-mechanics/governance-pools/main-pool-sbst), staking in the Asset pool is auto-compounding as long as your BSPT tokens are deposited.

You will see your earned BST under the My stats section of the Oceanpoint dapp.&#x20;

![](/files/qK0UvoxMKNU3hgFuVvcF)

{% hint style="info" %}
Please note BST rewards will start being distributed to those staking only after 60% of the initial pool of tokenized real estate assets is deposited, however, no later that 22.8.2022.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
250,000 BST / month have been initially set as rewards for real estate owners staking on Oceanpoint. With the introduction of v0.3 this reward is going to decrease to shift incentives towards liquidity providers.

# Unstaking tokenized real estate

On this page you will learn how to withdraw your BSPT and claim your BST rewards (for real estate owners)

## Introduction

After completing the 6-month staking period, you can unstake your BSPT tokens and claim your BST rewards. This guide will walk you through this simple and straightforward process.

Unstaking your BSPT tokens and claiming your BST rewards is a simple process. Just follow the steps outlined below and ensure that you submit the required documentation to prove your ownership of the property. By doing so, you can successfully complete the unstaking process and enjoy your earned rewards as they unlock throughout the 24 months vesting period.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Please note the below process describes only unstaking for real estate asset owners taking in the [Asset pool - Issuer](/oceanpoint-pools/about-pool-mechanics/asset-pools/asset-pool-issuer) which involves a re-verification of title ownership as well as a 24 months vesting period for BST rewards.

Unstaking for community members staking in the [Asset pool - Community](/oceanpoint-pools/about-pool-mechanics/asset-pools/asset-pool-community) is a simple process of withdrawing tokens, which immediatley transfers both BSPT and BST rewards to the user's wallet.
{% endhint %}

### Step 1: Fill out the verification form

When you initiate the unstaking process, you will be prompted to fill out a short form. This form is required to verify the ownership of the property, ensuring that the property owner remains the same as at the beginning of the staking period. This verification process is a requirement set by the governance board and the Oceanpoint community.

### Step 2: Submit documentation

You will need to submit documentation dated no older than the unstaking date, which confirms your ownership of the property. This may include property deeds, legal documents, or other valid proof of ownership. The onboarding team at Oceanpoint will review and verify the submitted documentation.

### Step 3: Asset onboarding team review

Once the onboarding team has verified your documentation, they will forward your request to the governance board for further consideration. The governance board is responsible for the final approval of your unstaking and reward claiming process.

### Step 4: Governance Board Approval and Reward Release

Upon approval from the governance board, your staking rewards in the form of BST tokens will be released. You can then access and utilize these rewards according to your preferences and needs.&#x20;

# Decentralization plan

{% hint style="info" %}
*At launch, Oceanpoint governance relies on a strong social contract between the founding team and stakeholders. Over time, the Oceanpoint protocol will mature to become entirely community-driven. This means that Oceanpoint stakeholders will eventually be in total control of the future of the product and ecosystem. From Day 1, the long-term objective is to develop a robust decentralized community of which the founding team only accounts for a minority of the decision-making authority.*

*Across all phases of decentralization, we have a firm commitment to engaging with BST holders and community members on all major changes and updates.*
{% endhint %}

## Overview

BST, when staked, i.e. sBST is the protocol's governance token, which gives token-holders the ability to participate in on-chain votes on new pools, development strategies, policies and other important decisions. This section addresses how members of the Oceanpoint community might use their tokens in this manner.

## Governance Phases & Rationale

**‌**Oceanpoint Governance is derived from the Compound governance module, a tried-and-true framework that has become familiar to the DeFi community. From Day 1, the founding team will begin relinquishing control over Oceanpoint operations through phases of progressive decentralization, promptly communicating with the community, and striving for the highest standards of transparency.

### Transitioning to Community Governance

Many DeFi projects have experienced early 'growing pains' when initiating community governance. We hope to mitigate this friction with an iterative transition to community governance.

1. Until Oceanpoint v0.3 is established, ownership functionalities will be retained by the team in order to easily upgrade the protocol, introduce new pools, allocate BST rewards, and so on.
2. After Oceanpoint v0.3, governance responsibilities will be transferred to a multi-sig wallet controlled by a Governance Board, where seats will be split: 33,33% founding team (2 seats), 33,33% mentors and/or advisors (2 seats), 33,33% community representatives (2 seats).
3. Over the course of one year after the Governance Board begins its mandate, the board will work towards increasing the amount of seats by on-boarding elected members of the community, increasing the community's voting power.
4. The last stage will introduce a fully functional on-chain governance module with delegation features, so that 100% of the control will be in the hands of the community. Upon successful deployment of the governance module, the dissolution of the Governance Board shall commence.

#### **Votes can only be cast by sBST token-holders. The vote passage/approval requirements are as follows:**

| **Action**               | **Threshold**                                                                        |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Bring a proposal to vote | Submitters must have the delegation of at least 1% of the outstanding sBST supply. |
| Voting - Reach Quorum | 5% of the outstanding sBST supply must vote ‘Yes’ on the proposal. |
| Voting - Vote Passes | A minimum of 50%+1 of votes cast with a minimum of 5% of sBST supply as ‘YES’ votes. |

## **Voting & Participation**

Participants can engage with the Oceanpoint community by proposing, developing and assisting **Oceanpoint Improvement Proposals** \[OIPs], casting votes on OIPs, and sharing their opinion in our community chats. (See "[The Voting Process.](/community/the-voting-process)")

## Treasury Management

15,000,000 BST is dedicated as DAO reserves for marketing, community engagement and liquidity provisioning. Most of this BST will most likely stay un-minted until the Governance Board is established.

Beyond that, there are many, smaller expenditures required to facilitate further growth of Oceanpoint and modest allowances of 2,000-4,000 BST may be utilized if required per the discretion of the team and, later when introduced, the Governance Board. These might include audit payments, bug bounties, freelance work, community engagement, contests and campaigns, content bounties, and so on.

Once the Governance Board is established, one or two "satellite wallets" will be introduced for ease of operations. These types of siloed 2-of-n multisig wallets will enable a more efficient ecosystem that doesn't require a vote on every single spend and maintains security of the overall treasury by fragmenting allowances to different groups and categories.

Wallet signers will comprise of team members, Oceanpoint community members, and external reputable faces in DeFi. Ultimately, more and more weight will shift away from the team and towards the community.

###

# The voting process

All sBST tokens are eligible to participate in Oceanpoint governance votes. BST holders can acquire sBST by depositing their tokens in the Governance pool.&#x20;

Oceanpoint Improvement Proposals (OIPs) are submitted by community members. One function of OIPs will also be for Asset onboarding: adding and removing tokenized real estate properties by defining ownership thresholds of the protocol.

There are two types of votes: on-chain and signal. OIPs can be introduced as a signal or on-chain vote. Initially, most voting will comprise of off-chain signal voting through [Snapshot](https://snapshot.org/#/blocksquare.eth). Over time, more and more votes will be executed on-chain with executable code, ultimately relinquishing all administrative responsibilities and controls directly to the sBST holders.

### Signal Voting

Signal voting through [Snapshot](https://snapshot.org/#/blocksquare.eth) is a more casual process, with the outcome being executed in good faith of the sentiment of voters. Initially, only whitelisted "core" addresses are permitted to create snapshot proposals.&#x20;

On snapshot, 1 sBST = 1 vote. Snapshot requires a block number to poll balances, which will be estimated at three hours prior to the start of the vote. Snapshot votes run for 72 hours in length.&#x20;

Votes requires at least 30,000 sBST voting in favour with majority approval to meet quorum and pass. That quorum requirement may increase over time as sBST supply increases and holders are more accustomed to voting.

# Governance principles

The founding team will always provide the community answers to these basic questions for every material decision the team makes:

* What decision has been made?&#x20;
* Why was that decision made?&#x20;
* Who is impacted by the decision?&#x20;
* When is the decision going into effect?
* How can the community provide feedback and voice their opinion?

### Founding Principles

As with other projects in the DeFi space, Oceanpoint's governance will emerge from community collaboration and participation. **We begin the project with a few simple governance principles:**

* Any and all material changes to Oceanpoint and BST should be proposed in public, with code, with appropriate time for community feedback.&#x20;
* We believe that responsibility can remain in the founding team's hands for the initial phase only, until power can be transferred to the community. Our roadmap for progressive decentralization outlines our strategy for transitioning to fully autonomous and decentralized decision-making.&#x20;
* We believe a successful governance system should minimize the time and cost necessary for a person or entity to participate in governance. We will explore gas-efficient methods of voting like Layer 2 scaling solutions to reduce costs associated with voting.&#x20;

# Governance board

The governance board's role is to help transition into a fully decentralized on-chain community governance system. This page is to keep the community in the loop on the board's activities.

{% hint style="info" %}
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
Over the course of one year after the Governance Board begins its mandate, the board will work towards increasing the amount of seats by on-boarding elected members of the community, increasing the community's voting power.
{% endhint %}

### Agenda:

1. Analyse and vote on Deepwaters exchange listing proposal
2. Agree on a general frequency for governance board meetings

\----------------------

#### 1. Analyse and vote on Deepwaters exchange listing proposal

After the listing vote for Blocksquare passed, our board needs to analyse the exchange and vote on the listing.

**Votes:**

* <mark style="background-color:red;">Proceed with listing?</mark> `0 - yes / 5 - no / 1 - not present`
* <mark style="background-color:green;">Monitor progress of Deepwaters?</mark> `5 - yes / 0 - no / 1 - not present`
* <mark style="background-color:green;">Explore other CEX options?</mark> `5 - yes / 0 - no / 1 - not present`

**Supporting arguments on the decision:**

The main concern the board has is regarding Deepwater exchange's volumes, which are not currently tracked by popular sites like Coinmarketcap or Coingecko. As BST is currently only traded on Uniswap, listing on a non-listed CEX like Deepwaters would potentially result in a significant portion of trade volumes to become unreported/excluded, decreasing aggregate volumes, an important metric for those only beginning to discover our ecosystem. Furthermore, listing would also require some of the DAO's liquidity to be migrated to Deepwaters, which would again result in a decrease in aggregate numbers which could potentially negatively impact BST.

That being said, the governance board suggests our DAO to keep the extended listing option open for when Deepwaters becomes a listed exchange on Coinmarketcap/Coingecko, as the board believes the exchange's team and their market approach are excellent.

\----------------------

#### 2. Agree on a general frequency for governance board meetings

The board may formally adopt a resolution or motion to establish the meeting schedule, which could include specific dates, times, and locations for each meeting. Alternatively, the board may simply agree on a general frequency, such as meeting once a month or twice a quarter.

**Votes:**

* <mark style="background-color:green;">Meeting frequency once per month?</mark> `5 - yes / 0 - no / 1 - not present`
* <mark style="background-color:green;">Extra meetings agreed when required?</mark> `5 - yes / 0 - no / 1 - not present`

### Agenda:

1. Analyse and vote on Mexc exchange listing proposal
2. Analyse and vote on Gotbit service offer for market making

\----------------------

#### 1. Analyse and vote on Mexc exchange listing proposal

After the initial due diligence conducted by the exchange to list BST passed, our board needs to analyse the exchange and vote on the listing.

**Votes:**

* <mark style="background-color:green;">Proceed with listing?</mark> 6 `- yes / 0 - no / 0 - not present`

**Supporting arguments on the decision:**

Upon reviewing the offer, the board agrees that the proposed cost structure is very favourable and the listing should be confirmed. Amongst all exchanges we have been in contact with, Mexc presents the one with the largest trading volumes and highest CMC and CG rankings.

\----------------------

#### 2. Analyse and vote on Gotbit service offer for market making

With a centralized exchange listing, there comes a requirement to employ market making services. We have been in contact with Gotbit for over a year, which came from two recommendations. It is important to note no market making service has yet been employed and only relied on organic traffic on Uniswap. With the launch on the CEX, Gotbit will maintain required volumes and arbitrage whenever required between the two exchanges, Mexc and Uniswap, however, volumes on Uniswap will remain organically driven.

**Votes:**

* <mark style="background-color:green;">Confirm Gotbit for market making?</mark> 6 `- yes / 0 - no / 0 - not present`

### Agenda:

1. Analyse and vote on Gotbit proposal to allocate funds for arbitrage
2. Make the Parking space project the first property available for community staking with Oceanpoint v0.4 launch

\----------------------

#### 1. Analyse and vote on Gotbit proposal to allocate funds for arbitrage

Gotbit proposed to allocate some funds for arbitrage activities between Uniswap and Mexc. The required allocation from the DAO's treasury is 5.5 ETH + 40,000 BST.

**Votes:**

* <mark style="background-color:green;">Approve and start arbitrage activity?</mark> 6 `- yes / 0 - no / 0 - not present`
* <mark style="background-color:green;">Re-allocate funds from ETH-BST liquidity pool for arbitrage?</mark> 6 `- yes / 0 - no / 0 - not present`

**Supporting arguments on the decision:**

Arbitrage is required to keep both markets in sync. Arbitrage opportunities are often executed by other players, but leaving it unattended might create times when arbitragers don't engage into execution, which can hurt organic trade volumes. Actively engaging in arbitrage opportunities creates better market conditions and more trustworthiness for traders to be active in BST markets.

\----------------------

#### 2. Make the Parking space project the first property available for community staking with Oceanpoint v0.4 launch

The Parking space project is the first property Blocksquare has ever tokenized and is the only property where the token contract is deployed outside of our mainnet tokenization system, thus making it incompatible with Oceanpoint.

**Votes:**

* <mark style="background-color:green;">Confirm parking space staking?</mark> 6 `- yes / 0 - no / 0 - not present`

**Supporting arguments on the decision:**

The Parking space project is the first property Blocksquare has ever tokenized and is the only property where the token contract is deployed outside of our mainnet tokenization system, thus making it incompatible with Oceanpoint. The board decided the migration process should be executed and the holders of the tokens invited as beta testers for Oceanpoint v0.4 as the first community members who will be able to stake BSPT tokens to earn BST. &#x20;

### Agenda:

1. #### Marketplace Pools for Oceanpoint / Denis
2. **Coinstore Proposal / Denis**

\----------------------

#### 1. Marketplace Pools for Oceanpoint / Denis

Situation of oceanpoint:

Marketplace pools offer potential to raise funds to gain partner status.

People can pitch their concept of a marketplace to the community in order to gain enough funds to create it. The own invest is a minimum of 10.000 sBST.

They have then 6 month to launch the partnership, the investors have 12 month lock in.

Goal: create more utility in BST, decentralize ownershiop of marketplaces,\
This might get more important once the price for BST is increasing.

**Votes:**

* <mark style="background-color:green;">Approve?</mark> 5 `- yes / 0 - no / 1 - not present`

#### 2. Coinstore proposal/ Denis

We received a proposal from Coinstore.\
Simon: ask Godbit (our marketmaker) if they think it's worth joining Coinstore. Coinstore only ask for 2000 BST.

Denis will ask Godbit.

### Agenda:

1. #### Update / Denis
2. **Regional Hubs / Denis**
3. **LBBW Future of Finance Bootcamp / Denis**
4. **Tokelytics / Denis**

\----------------------

1. #### Update / Denis

He reports on the tokenization/notarization progress at Blocksquare. They signed up a PR firm to promote this news.

2. **Regional Hubs (Denis)**

Six month ago they onboarded a team member who works for a high-net-worth person and remains unknown. They developed a regional hub system for blocksquare. These hub should develop the regional activities. 5 regional ambasadors can create one hub and elect one chair. A BST reward pool should incentify regional activities. Goal is to have 20.0000 BST per regional hub.

3. **LBBW Future of Finance Bootcamp / Denis**

Blocksquare got a place in the LBBW competition for future of finance bootcamp. It is organized together with DEKA and will start in November 2023.

4. **Tokelytics / Denis**

For Blocksquare they develope an audit report for smart contracts - it's called Tokelytics. \
In order to use it for a wider range of products it should also be offered to other real estate tokenization companies, so they can use it for their clients. Therefore we are looking for partners who are interested in this. The board is asked to make contact to potential new partners. The first step is to get them on a call and to discuss the benefits of tokelytics.

2. **New GovBoard Members / Denis**
3. **xxx / Denis**
4. **xx / Denis**

\----------------------

1. **Attendance of GovBoard Members / Denis**

Not all GovBoard members are attending, some are missing everytime. What should we do about it?

Simon: Ask them to join, if they are not remove them from the board

SaFo: it should be not so difficult to join, as ist not so often and short

Denis: Propose them these changes:

1. Join the meeting

2. Find another slot or day

3. They could step down (permanetly or temporary)

4. **New GovBoard Members / Denis**

Should we add new board members?

SaFo: Look for most active community members

Simon: he is fine with adding new members

Achim: first solve the problem from 1) before we are adding new members.

Simon: provide incentive, instead of punishment for board members

Denis: offer incentive to meet in Dubai once a year, if you take part in the board.

-> Start measuring attandence of board members and act on non-attending.&#x20;

3. **Roles for Governance board / Denis**

Denis: GovBoard should in future vote on proposals made by tokenholders. Right now the goal is to grow the token.

Simon: we dont need roles right now. Decide on case by case.

Denis: maybe rather tasks than roles. Like:

* Communicate the output of board meetings to the community - pass information to Julia. (Andy)
* Contact to market makers. (Simon/Denis)
* Fund management. (Denis)
* Meeting minutes (Achim)
* Agenda for next call

Achim: use this as task list for future board member so that they know what they could (should) do.

2. **Tokenization / Denis**
3. **Central Exchange Listing / Denis**
4. **LBBW / Denis**
5. **Long Term Plans / Simon**
6. **Expansion Governance Board / Denis**

\----------------------

1. #### Update / Denis

Regional Hubs have officially launced. Was successful, some applications are already in.

Three hubs should be set up soon.\
Cooperation with FIBREE to do another Tokenization Challenge in 2024. Topic: Challenge to organize a local meetup about Tokenization. Top three events will be picked.\
Blocksquare would be present at each meetup as a speaker.\
\
The board approves of this initative.

2. **Tokenization / Denis**

For a project in Austria the question about insovlency risk of involed companies has been raised. A company 'limited by guarantee' could be a soltuion. This would be locatd in the UK.

Simon: Could a trust be also a solution?\
Denis: There is a problem for a trust to act as a BSPT lender.\
Simon: The Netherlands have a good trust structure in place that might be an alternative.\
Denis: once we explored the options of the first option we can look into the trust possibility.\
&#x20;

3. **Central Exchange Listing / Denis**

Godbit suggests it is good timing to be listed on further, larger centralized exchanges. ByBit, is currently being reviewed for that.

4. **LBBW / Denis**

Blocksquare became second in the competition. LBBW want to connect us with thier real estate department for further collaboration.

5. **Long Term Plans / Simon**

Simon: Expansing to Asia markets? Philipines, Vietnam?\
Denis: Currently - no specific goal, but we are open for interesting connections.

Achim: maybe the regional hubs can be the first step for an expansion.

Denis: Yes, that is the plan. Identify active regions and give the a proven concept about how to start tokenizing real estate.

-> Simon will reach out to his contacts in Asia to see how the interest there is.

6. **Expansion Governance Board / Denis**

One community member (musclepump) was approached by Sa Fo and he would love to join the board. Denis: there is also an interview for the core team set up with him - so wait for the interview.

1. Bitmart launch

BST price is stable.\
&#x20;

1. New team member\
   Ari Last, he will work on contacts with Central Exchanges.\
   He works on basis of token + success fee. He already made some new connections to CEX.\
   Goal is to list at one tier 1 exchange.\
   &#x20;
2. Finacials\
   100K BST are targeted for liquidation. Only when price is >0.30$\
   \
   900K ETH\
   100K obligations\
   \--> healthy financials, low burnrate, compensation mostly on BST
3. Regional Hubs\
   Cody (musclepume) Regional Hub manager. Onboarded 19 regional ambassadors.\
   Issue: no limitation on hubs per region. There already 3 hubs in Nigeria.\
   We have to prohibit that people misuse the concept to gain the BST reward - e g by paying people to join regional events and cashing in on the reward.\
   Cody will popose a soltuion proposal for this problem.
4. Bug bounty programs\
   <https://immunefi.com/> is used for bug bounty programms and might be of interest for Blockcsquare.

1. KOL Marketing Strategy Discussion (KOL = Key Opinion Leaders)\
   \
   Propbase did this. Good example. Onboarded 120 KOLs and are now harvesting the benefits through high twitter comments etc.\
   Benefits: 1. more exposure 2. raise dollars, even if we give discounts\
   \
   KOL with 40 - 100K followers.\
   \
   Downsite: potential dump after the lock period\
   \
   Simon: currently not really needed as KOLs are talking about BST.\
   \
   Andy: cryptohub is e g a good example of a valuable KOL that still could help us.\
   \
   Simon: what benefit would we get through an allocation - other than we have already now?\
   \
   Andy: it guarantees us a position in the right spot\
   \
   Denis: Some people might get it wrong that we offer a discounted price to people who are actually late to the party… BUT we could have an edge how to do it. E g we could use Propbase for giving us hints what KOLs did help them. This could be labeled as a cooperation between BS and Propbase. We could allocate a fixed amount BST to a group of chosen KOLs and they can choose to participate.\
   \
   Simon: we have a benefit over other projects: a healthy chart, that is not hype-based.\
   Maybe rather invite other RWA projects for cooperations.\
   \
   Denis: Establish BST as a longterm token where investors go to when exitign other hyped RWA projects.\
   \
   Andy: chose between organic growth and acelerated growth.\
   \
   Sascha: our chart is much better than the ones of other projects. Others have no liquidity and are prone to sales of whales.\
   \
   Denis: no vote today. Lets explore further and find a way to grow without risking the trust of the community. Our view should also be on the time after the bull run.\
   &#x20;
2. Uniswap BST-ETH liquidity pool\
   this liquidity positions is currently UNLOCKED and accounts for approx 100 ETH + 500,000 BST\
   \
   Andy: Locking is probably a good thing.\
   Simon: How much would APY go down if we stake all?\
   Sasha: probably a lot\
   &#x20;People will take out a lot because of the bull run.\
   \
   Sasha: we could lock liquidty via Uniswap. He will look into this and let us know.\
   \
   Denis: if we use the same mechanism we would eat up a lot of the reward for the community.\
   We could move the liquidity pool to the governance board. This gives more certainty to the community.\
   \
   To lock it right now in our system would be not a good idea.\
   \
   &#x20;
3. Market place Pools\
   \
   People from the community can fill the pool with 100.000 BST, they add collateral to guarantee that they tokenize real esate during a certain period. If the dont manage to do that the collateral will be burned (10.000 BST) max 99.000 BST\
   \--> drop minimum to 100 or 1.000 BST to encourage smaller marketplaces to start.\
   \
   3600 BST - 1000 sBST\
   \
   Simon: move to 500 BST\
   &#x20;
4. Burning BST\
   \
   60.000 BST are on the governance board wallet.\
   The community asked for burning it.\

   APY is reducing for the governance pool. This might have negative effect on the acceptance of it. Should we do something to prevent this from hepeeneing?\
   <https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dkKlwLQ77k8wVnZNg-hcZH7gZtVQGr4DDkBPMQrfr-c/edit#gid=1729319839>\
   &#x20;

   Currenty 5.67%  for Governance Pool\
   \
   Denis: Our goal create many market place pools.

   Define KPIs for the operator of the marketplace in order to test if they deliver what they are promising to the community

   Andy: currently you can earn quite a bit on the liquidity pool. Would be good to be able to shift some of this to the Governance Pool.\
   \
   Simon: maybe reevalute this once a month?

   Denis: Announce it to the community before, or even offer it to vote to the community. This would strengthen the decentralized governance.\
   Or, we adjust it (vote for it)

   \
   Simon: we should offer a discussion space to give space for the community. He knows a white lable solution that could do that:

   <https://www.discourse.org/>

   Example: <https://forum.paribus.io/>\
   &#x20;

   If we want to have an open vote we need a forum to facilitate the vote: all are in favor for it.

   Who is moderating the forum? Viktor and Denis are setting it up an account with Discourse. Sascha and Andy will propose how we will manage it in future.\
   \
   First proposal will be done in 3 weeks (next governance board)

# Regional Hubs

Regional Hubs play a pivotal role in [Blocksquare's](https://blocksquare.io) ecosystem and their structure has been designed to grow regionally while expanding our community on a global level.

Regional Ambassadors represent their respective regions, working closely with the Regional Chair and contributing to the network's goals. Once a network reaches a minimum of five participants, a Regional Chair is selected for each region, leading a team of Regional Ambassadors to organize events in specific geographical regions, fostering connections, promoting objectives, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration with relevant stakeholders in the real estate and web3 industries.

For those passionate about real estate and blockchain, this is your chance to make a significant impact in your region.

{% hint style="success" %}
Become a Regional Ambassador for Blocksquare and Oceanpoint, and be at the forefront of revolutionizing the real estate industry.
{% endhint %}

If you're driven, knowledgeable, and ready to connect with like-minded professionals, we invite you to apply and be a part of this transformative journey.

Join us in shaping the future of real estate tokenization!

# Network structure

The organizational structure for the Blocksquare network consists of two levels of participants:&#x20;

1. Regional Ambassadors
2. Regional Chairs

{% hint style="info" %}
The network is designed to grow and expand regionally, with the formation of so-called Regional Hubs.
{% endhint %}

### **1. Regional Ambassadors**

Regional Ambassadors are participants within the network who represent their respective regions. They work closely with the Regional Chair and contribute to the network's goals and initiatives. Regional Ambassadors actively engage with other professionals in their region, fostering connections, and promoting the network's objectives.

### **2. Regional Chairs**

Once the network reaches a minimum of five participants, one individual will be selected as a Regional Chair for each region. The Regional Chair will be responsible for leading a team of five Regional Ambassadors within their respective region. They will provide guidance, support, and coordination for the ambassadors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the region.

***

## **Regional Hubs**

Regional Hubs will be established to represent the network in a specific geographical region. A regional hub is formed as soon as there are 4 ambassadors and 1 regional chair. A Regional Hub can also consist of up to 8 ambassadors and 1 Regional Chair. In cases where a regional hub grows further, multiple Regional Chairs can be appointed, with each chair being responsible for a group of 4 to 8 Ambassadors within the hub. The Regional Chairs within a hub work collaboratively to ensure effective leadership and coordination within the larger group.

The organizational structure allows for the network to scale and adapt to regional growth. By appointing Regional Chairs and establishing regional hubs, the network ensures effective leadership, coordination, and support for participants within each region.

{% hint style="success" %}
This structure promotes collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the achievement of the network's objectives on a regional level.
{% endhint %}

While the ultimate goal of the professional network is to have a presence in various regions of the world, initially, the focus will be on building the network on a global level. This is because the network needs to have a certain level of global reach and influence to attract the right talent and resources to scale in various regions.

Therefore, the first set of Regional Chairs will be selected on a global basis, rather than being region-specific. This approach will ensure that the best and most experienced members of the network are given leadership positions, regardless of where they are based.

{% hint style="info" %}
The ultimate goal for Regional Hubs is to connect regionally, however this is not a limitation - members of a Regional Hub can come from anywhere around the world, as long as they wish to work together on a common goal - growing a strong community through online and/or offline activities.
{% endhint %}

# Selection process

## **Regional Ambassador**&#x20;

As part of our application process, we require interested individuals to test themselves in their knowledge of the Blocksquare ecosystem and provide information about their professional background. This ensures that we have dedicated and knowledgeable individuals representing our network as ambassadors.

To join us as an ambassador, you will be asked to take a short Blocksquare Self-Evaluation Quiz that assesses your understanding of the Blocksquare ecosystem. The quiz covers key concepts, features, and initiatives within our ecosystem. More than a traditional test, this questionnaire is designed for self-evaluation. It offers an opportunity to gauge your current understanding of Blocksquare's services and operations as well as to see, which areas of our services one might need to look into further.

{% hint style="success" %}
This approach helps us ensure that our ambassadors possess a strong foundation and can effectively communicate the value and potential of Blocksquare to others.
{% endhint %}

In addition to the quiz, we ask all applicants to fill out an application form providing details about their professional background. We are interested in learning about your experience, skills, and achievements that make you a great fit for the ambassador's role.

{% hint style="success" %}
This information allows us to assess your ability to represent our network professionally and engage with other professionals in a meaningful way.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Please note, all regional ambassadors are required to register and complete an account on the [Oceanpoint](https://marketplace.oceanpoint.fi/oceanpoint/auth/sign-in) marketplace.
{% endhint %}

***

## **Regional Chair**&#x20;

We believe in empowering our Regional Ambassadors and giving them autonomy in shaping their teams and regional operations. Once a region has a team of 5 ambassadors, they have the opportunity to select a Regional Chair who will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the team. We entrust this decision to the ambassadors themselves, as they are in the best position to understand the dynamics and needs of their region.

{% hint style="info" %}
**The selection process for the Regional Chair will be conducted by the ambassadors within the region, without interference from the governance board of the network.**

This approach allows the ambassadors to choose a leader who they believe will effectively guide and coordinate the team, based on their firsthand experiences and insights.
{% endhint %}

We value the knowledge and expertise of our ambassadors, and empowering them to make decisions strengthens our network from within. By providing the opportunity for ambassadors to select their own Regional Chair, we foster a sense of ownership and collaboration, ensuring that leadership positions are filled by individuals who have earned the trust and respect of their peers.

This inclusive approach not only encourages active participation and engagement among ambassadors but also promotes a supportive and cohesive regional team. By putting the decision-making power in the hands of the ambassadors themselves, we enable them to shape the network according to their unique needs and aspirations.

# Ambassador registration

To become an ambassador in the Blocksquare network, interested individuals will need to follow a straightforward application process.

If blockchain and real estate excite you, [start your Ambassador journey and be part of the future here.](https://oceanpoint.fi/#ambassadors-apply)

{% embed url="<https://oceanpoint.fi/#ambassadors-apply>" %}

For those who want to read about the full application process, see the step-by-step overview below.

## **1. Application Form**

The first step is to fill out a short application form. This form will focus on gathering information about the applicant's professional background, which helps assess their suitability for the ambassador role within the Blocksquare network. The application form provides an opportunity for applicants to showcase their relevant experience and skills.

## **2. Knowledge Quiz**

Following the application form, applicants will be required to complete a short quiz that tests their knowledge of Blocksquare. This quiz aims to gauge their understanding of the platform, its features, and its mission. It ensures that ambassadors possess the necessary knowledge to effectively represent and promote Blocksquare.

## **3. Account and Wallet Registration**

The final step in the application process is the account and wallet registration on [marketplace.ocenpoint.fi](https://marketplace.oceanpoint.fi). This step is crucial for the distribution of BST earned/won in the quarterly competitions. By registering their wallet, ambassadors can receive their rewards securely and participate fully in the Blocksquare network.

### **KYC Process and Participation Requirements**

It's important to note that wallet registration and going through the KYC (Know Your Customer) process is mandatory for all ambassadors. This is essential to comply with regulatory requirements and ensure a secure and trusted environment within the Blocksquare network.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Ambassadors who choose not to register their wallets and complete the KYC process will be unable to participate in the quarterly competitions or join existing or form new Regional Hubs.
{% endhint %}

***

By following this application process, Blocksquare can effectively assess applicants' qualifications, ensure their knowledge of the platform, and establish a secure distribution system for rewarding ambassadors.

This process helps maintain the integrity and professionalism of the ambassador network while fostering a community of dedicated individuals within the Blocksquare ecosystem

# Regional Hub registration

Upon becoming a registered and approved Ambassador in the Blocksquare Network, individuals have the opportunity to join forces and form their Regional Hub, which serves as a collective unit within the network.

Here's an explanation of the process to register as a Regional Hub:

### 1. Forming a Regional Hub

Ambassadors in the network can join forces and create a Regional Hub. To establish a full membership hub, a minimum of five (5) ambassadors must come together. This group of five individuals forms the core of the Regional Hub.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Moving from one regional hub to another is permitted for ambassadors, however each ambassador can only be part of 1 regional hub at any given time.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
If at any time, the hub falls below the required number of ambassadors, the Hub will be required to recruit a new ambassador to register under their Hub.
{% endhint %}

#### <mark style="background-color:orange;">Not able to form an intial group of 5 ambassadors?</mark>

To easily engage in your first quarterly competition, Regional Ambassadors can form and register a Regional Hub even when less than five ambassadors.

* Start alone or with fellow ambassadors.
* Each ambassador contributes 4,000 BST to the rewards pot.
* Build-up into a full membership hub after you kick off.

{% hint style="success" %}
Register a regional hub now, engage in quarterly competitions, and build up to a full membership hub later.
{% endhint %}

### 2. Selection of a Regional Chair

Within the group of five ambassadors forming the Regional Hub, their first collective decision will be to select and promote one of the ambassadors to the role of Regional Chair. The Regional Chair will assume the responsibility of leading and coordinating the activities of the Hub.

{% hint style="info" %}
Note, the selection process and criteria for choosing the Chair is determined entirely by the ambassadors themselves.
{% endhint %}

### 3. Registration of the Regional Hub

Once the Regional Hub is formed and the Regional Chair is chosen, the next step is to register the newly formed Hub. This involves completing a short application form to officially register the Regional Hub within the Blocksquare Network.

{% hint style="info" %}
The application form captures the necessary information and details about the Hub's members and its designated Regional Chair.
{% endhint %}

{% embed url="<https://go.blocksquare.io/regional-hub-application-form>" fullWidth="false" %}

### 4. Eligibility for Quarterly Competitions

By forming and registering their Regional Hub, the Hub gains the eligibility to compete for the BST prize pool in the network's Quarterly competitions. These competitions provide an opportunity for the Hub to earn rewards based on their performance and contributions within the network.

{% hint style="warning" %}
All newly formed Regional Hubs will need to be reviewed and approved by the Governance board. Approval is mandatory for eligibility to participate in the quarterly competitions.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
You can learn more about the BST reward pool allocation in [Quarterly BST allocations](/community/regional-hubs/quarterly-bst-allocations)
{% endhint %}

## Participation in Quarterly Competitions

It's important to note that while ambassadors are not required to join or form a Regional Hub, those who choose not to join a Hub will be unable to participate in the Quarterly competitions. These competitions are specifically reserved for registered Regional Hubs.

{% hint style="info" %}
Joining or forming a Regional Hub allows ambassadors to actively engage in the competitions and have a chance to earn rewards from the BST prize pool.
{% endhint %}

# Quarterly competitions

At Blocksquare we are committed to fostering a dynamic and collaborative professional network. We value the efforts of all Regional Hub members in growing the network and organizing meet-ups and events. To further incentivize and promote the teamwork aspect we are introducing a gamification element to our network.

By working together, ambassadors will have the opportunity to compete for quarterly pools of BST tokens. These tokens serve as an additional incentive, on top of the existing referral agreement, rewarding their dedication and effort in growing the network and promoting the Blocksquare ecosystem.

The quarterly competitions will start as soon as at least three Regional Hubs have been formed globally. These competitions will involve scoring each Hub based on predefined metrics. At the end of the quarter, the scores will be tallied, and BST tokens distributed to all participating Hubs.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Quarterly competitions will commence once a minimum of three Regional Hubs are established worldwide.
{% endhint %}

# Quarterly BST allocations

The quarterly prize pool for the Quarterly Competition consists of a certain amount of BST tokens, which are allocated by the governance board.

For our first quarterly competition, the governance board has decided to allocate 20,000 BST tokens per every active Regional Hub competing for the prize pool. An active Regional Hub is defined as a Regional Hub, which achieves at least 1 (one) point during the course of the quarterly competition.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Given that we require at least three Regional Hubs to start our first Quarterly Competition, the overall prize pool will be 60,000 BST tokens.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
To incentivise the early formation of individual Regional Hubs, all points earned during a timeframe of 6 months prior to the activation of the first Quarterly Competition shall count towards the hub's final score.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}

#### Example:

If the next quarterly competition sees an increase of participating Regional Hubs from 3 to 5, and the governance board approves the same amount of 20,000 BST tokens per active RH, the prize pool for that particular quarter increases to 100,000 BST tokens.
{% endhint %}

### Geographic density

To strategically grow the Regional Hubs network by optimizing geographic distribution, incentivizing regional performance, and ensuring meaningful engagement, with a particular emphasis on managing geographic density and leveraging governance for dynamic adaptation, only regional hubs formed in regions with low RH activity will contribute to the quarterly BST allocation.

The region a hub is classified under is defined by the location/nationality of it's ambassadors. If the composition of a specific hub is 60% or more ambassadors of a single region (country/state/city), the hub will be classified as the regional hub of that region (country/state/city).&#x20;

The governance board can increase the number of Regional Hubs for a specific country if:

* there is enough supportive evidence it is needed,
* the current hub is inactive or mismanaged.

{% hint style="success" %}
Note, that any number of hubs can be formed in a specific region, however by default, only 1 regional hub per region (country/state/city) shall contribute to the total allocation of a quarterly competition.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
This approach enables control over geographic concentration, while encouraging new ambassadors to join existing regional hubs over forming new ones.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
In the case where ambassadors of a hub all come from different regions (country/state/city), the hub shall be classified as the hub of the region (country/state/city) where the Regional Chair is located.
{% endhint %}

#### Geographic density list (valid as of May 1st, 2024)

<table><thead><tr><th width="182">Region</th><th width="100">Density<select><option value="GZ0oBMMpPeHk" label="Country" color="blue"></option><option value="X0qOsoQZNfks" label="State" color="blue"></option><option value="2b7QgP87yLDU" label="City" color="blue"></option></select></th><th>Example list</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Asia</td><td><span data-option="GZ0oBMMpPeHk">Country</span></td><td>China, India, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines...</td></tr><tr><td>Africa</td><td><span data-option="GZ0oBMMpPeHk">Country</span></td><td>Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Tanzania, Uganda, Algeria...</td></tr><tr><td>Australia</td><td><span data-option="GZ0oBMMpPeHk">Country</span></td><td>New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania...</td></tr><tr><td>Europe</td><td><span data-option="GZ0oBMMpPeHk">Country</span></td><td>Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Austria, Slovenia...</td></tr><tr><td>Middle East</td><td><span data-option="GZ0oBMMpPeHk">Country</span></td><td>Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon...</td></tr><tr><td>North America</td><td><span data-option="GZ0oBMMpPeHk">Country</span></td><td>Canada, United States, Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, Cuba...</td></tr><tr><td>South America</td><td><span data-option="GZ0oBMMpPeHk">Country</span></td><td>Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela...</td></tr><tr><td>USA</td><td><span data-option="X0qOsoQZNfks">State</span></td><td>California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina...</td></tr></tbody></table>

With time, as the Regional Hubs network evolves, the above list shall be adjusted by the governance board over time, based on the regional eligibility criteria and growth of individual Regional Hubs in specific parts of the world, to allow more granularity in certain geographic regions.

{% hint style="info" %}
**For example**

S. America current density is set to "country", however if activity is above normal, the Governance Board could change the density for Brazil to "city", allowing RHs to form in target cities within that country.
{% endhint %}

### Changes to the quarterly BST allocation

It is important to note that changes to reward allocations for the prize pool require approval from the governance board. This ensures transparency and fairness in the distribution process.

Therefore, prior to the start of every new quarterly competition, the governance board will review and communicate any changes to the allocation of BST tokens per active Regional Hub. This approval is based on two factors:

* the value of BST tokens at that time, and
* the number of active Regional Hubs participating in the competition for that quarter

By considering the value of BST tokens and the level of participation from the Regional Hubs, the governance board aims to determine a fair amount of tokens to encourage and incentivize active engagement of our Regional Hubs.&#x20;

# The scoring system

In every quarterly competition, each participating Regional Hub will be evaluated and scored based on two key aspects:&#x20;

1. The overall activities of all members within a Regional Hub (related to their individual Referral Agreements)
2. The quality of events organized by a Regional Hub during that quarter

By considering both the activities related to the Referral Agreement and the quality of events, the scoring system aims to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the Regional Hubs' contributions and engagement within the Blocksquare network.

{% hint style="info" %}
This system encourages active participation, effective referrals, and the organization of impactful events, ultimately promoting growth and fostering a vibrant community within the Blocksquare ecosystem.
{% endhint %}

You can find the breakdown of points that can be achieved in each scoring category below.

## a) Event organization

{% hint style="info" %}
In order to establish, promote and maintain Regional Hubs at the highest levels possible, the Governance board reserves the right to make adjustments or introduce changes to the scoring system at any time.

Any changes or adjustments will come into affect only in the quarter after the next.
{% endhint %}

## Scoring methodology

The scoring system for the quarterly competition involves several steps to determine the percentage amount of the quarterly prize pool that will be rewarded to each participating Regional Hub. Here's how it works:

### **Calculation of Regional Hub points**

Throughout the quarter, each Regional Hub will accumulate points based on their activities and event quality, as outlined in the previous explanation.

{% hint style="info" %}
The points earned by a Regional Hub will be tallied at the end of the quarter.
{% endhint %}

### **Calculation of total points**

The next step is to add up the total points achieved by all participating Regional Hubs in that quarter.

{% hint style="success" %}
This sum represents the combined efforts and performance of all the Hubs during the competition.
{% endhint %}

### **Percentage calculation**

To determine the percentage amount of the quarterly prize pool that each Regional Hub will receive, we compare the points achieved by each Hub to the total points achieved by all participating Hubs.

{% hint style="info" %}
The percentage is calculated by dividing the points earned by a Regional Hub by the total points achieved by all Hubs and multiplying by 100.
{% endhint %}

### **Allocation of the Prize pool**

Finally, based on the percentage calculated for each Regional Hub, the quarterly prize pool is divided accordingly. Each participating Hub will receive a portion of the prize pool based on their relative contribution and performance, as reflected by their percentage amount.

***

This scoring system ensures that the reward distribution is proportional to the efforts and achievements of each Regional Hub, taking into account both their individual performance and the overall performance of all participating Hubs. It encourages healthy competition, active engagement, and quality event organization, while fairly rewarding the contributions made by the Regional Hubs.

# BST rewards distribution

To ensure a fair and transparent distribution of tokens awarded to each Regional Hub from the quarterly prize pool, a systematic approach will be implemented. Here's how the distribution process will work:

### **Allocation of points to the Regional Hub members**

Each Regional Hub will be assigned 100 points, representing 100% of the prize pool awarded to the Hub. The responsibility of distributing these points among the members lies with the Regional Chair.

{% hint style="success" %}
The points are to be allocated based on the individual members' work, effort, and contributions during the quarter according to the Regional Chair's opinion.
{% endhint %}

### **Percentage-based token distribution**

The points assigned to each member by the Regional Chair will serve as a percentage representation of the overall number of BST tokens they have earned in the quarterly competition.

{% hint style="warning" %}
These percentages will determine the portion of tokens each member is entitled to receive from the prize pool.
{% endhint %}

### **Collaborative decision-making**

The Regional Chair and all ambassadors of the Hub can work together to decide and allocate the points to each member. This collaborative process allows for collective input and ensures a fair distribution based on the collective assessment of each member's contributions.

### **Reporting in the quarterly report**

The final points scored by each ambassador will be documented and reported in the Quarterly Report. This report will provide an overview of the distribution of points among the members, indicating the percentage of the prize pool that each member has earned.

### **Token distribution by the Governance board**

Based on the points allocated to each member in the Quarterly Report, the governance board will have the necessary information to send the appropriate amount of BST tokens to every participating ambassador.

{% hint style="info" %}
This eliminates the risk of relying solely on one person within the Hub to distribute the tokens and ensures that each member receives their rightful share based on their contribution to the overall performance of the Hub.
{% endhint %}

***

By following this approach, the distribution of tokens among the members of each Regional Hub becomes a collaborative and transparent process. It guarantees that each member receives an accurate portion of the tokens, reflecting their individual efforts and the overall performance of the Hub in the quarterly competition.

# Quarterly Activities Report

At the end of each quarter, every Regional Hub will be required to submit a Quarterly Activities Report. This report will be prepared by the Regional Chair of each Regional Hub and will include comprehensive details of all activities carried out by the ambassadors connected to their referral agreement, as well as a record of all events organized during the quarter.

{% hint style="info" %}
The purpose of this report is to provide the Blocksquare board with an overview of the Regional Hub's performance and contributions to the network.
{% endhint %}

In addition, the information provided in this report will be used to evaluate the Regional Hub's performance and determine their final results as well as the amount of BST tokens received from the quarterly prize pool for every quarterly competition.&#x20;

Below is the list of necessary information each report has to include in order for the governance board to be able to determine the quarterly competition final scores.&#x20;

### **Ambassador details**

1. Ambassador’s full name
2. contact email (the same email address he/she used to register as an Ambassador and that is connected to the Ambassador’s wallet)
3. the number of points an Ambassador has achieved/been allocated in the quarter&#x20;

### **Ambassador activities**

Please provide a summary of the activities undertaken by all ambassadors associated with the referral agreement.&#x20;

1. Number of new marketplace operators brought to the platform
2. Number of real estate properties tokenized on the platform
3. Total $ value of properties tokenized on the platform
4. Total $ value of BST tokens sold via OTC sales&#x20;

### **Event details**

Please provide a list of all events organized by the Regional Hub during the quarter. Include the following details for each event:

1. Event Name

{% hint style="info" %}
Regional Chairs are welcome to provide additional relevant information or include any other details they deem necessary to showcase their Regional Hub's performance.
{% endhint %}

### Submission deadline

The Quarterly Activities Report must be submitted by the Regional Chair no later than the third week at the end of every calendar quarter. Please ensure that all required information is accurately filled in the provided templates.

{% hint style="danger" %}

#### Importance of honest reporting

We strongly emphasise the importance of honest reporting. Providing accurate information is essential for fair competition and maintaining the integrity of the Blocksquare network. Any deliberate misrepresentation or falsification of numbers may lead to severe consequences, including disqualification and potential exclusion from the network. By submitting the Quarterly Activities Report with accurate and truthful information, Regional Hubs can contribute to a transparent and reliable evaluation process that reflects their genuine efforts and achievements.
{% endhint %}

### Review and result declaration timeline

After the submission of the Quarterly Activities Reports by the Regional Chairs, the Blocksquare board will review all the reports and score each Regional Hub's performance. The board will declare the results of the quarterly competition within one month of receiving the reports.

{% hint style="info" %}
Please note that the review process and scoring may require careful evaluation and consideration of the activities and events reported by each Regional Hub. The board will strive to complete the assessment and announce the results as promptly as possible while ensuring a thorough and fair evaluation.
{% endhint %}

# Organizing events (Eventbrite)

To streamline event organization and facilitate efficient management, all Regional Hubs within the Blocksquare network will be required to use the [Eventbrite](https://www.eventbrite.com/signin/?referrer=%2Forganizations%2Fevents%2Fall) software. However, instead of individual Regional Hubs having their own Eventbrite accounts, a centralized approach will be adopted. The governance board of the network will create a main Blocksquare Network account and invite Regional Hubs to join this organization's account and assign them admin like roles, which will give them the right to edit, manage and publish their own events&#x20;

The centralized approach offers several advantages, including the ability to track and access contact details of individuals applying for and attending events organized by Regional Hubs.

{% hint style="success" %}
The Eventbrite platform enables the DAO's Governance board to maintain a comprehensive record of registered participants and track the number of check-ins at events.
{% endhint %}

Here's how it all works:

### **1. Regional hub’s Eventbrite account**&#x20;

Each registered Regional Hub participating in the Quarterly competition needs to create their own Eventbrite account. One account per Hub is sufficient.

{% hint style="info" %}
We recommend assigning one person from the Regional Hub as responsible for organizing and editing events within the Eventbrite platform.
{% endhint %}

### **2. Email submission**

The Regional Hub needs to provide the email address associated with their Hub's Eventbrite account in the Regional Hub application form.

{% hint style="info" %}
This is to be done via the Regional Hub Application Form.
{% endhint %}

### **3. Main Eventbrite account invitation**&#x20;

Upon reviewing the Regional Hub application, the Governance board invites the Regional Hub to join the main Eventbrite account of the Blocksquare network.

{% hint style="info" %}
This invitation allows the Regional Hub to access the shared organization's Eventbrite account.
{% endhint %}

### **4. Event details submission**&#x20;

Each Regional Hub is required to submit a short form providing essential details about any event they are planning to organize. This information includes the name of the Regional Hub organizing the event, the event's title, and the date of the event. [The link to this form can be found here.](#user-content-fn-1)[^1]

{% hint style="warning" %}
All events hosted by Regional Hubs, regardless of the size, have to be scheduled via Evebntbrite.
{% endhint %}

### **5. Event draft creation**

Once the Regional Hub submits the event details form, the Blocksquare RH team uses the provided information to create a draft event and assign it to the relevant Hub within the main Eventbrite account.

{% hint style="info" %}
Please note it may take up to 5 working days after submission for a draft event to be made available for the Regional Hub to edit on Eventbrite.
{% endhint %}

### **6. Editing and finalizing the event**&#x20;

The Regional Hub has the option to edit the event details and make necessary changes to the draft before publishing the event on the Eventbrite platform.

{% hint style="info" %}
This process allows Regional Hubs to customize and finalize event information according to their preferences.
{% endhint %}

***

By following these instructions and utilizing the centralized Eventbrite approach, Regional Hubs can effectively organize and manage their events while providing essential information to the Blocksquare network.

## Paid ticket events

For events organized by Regional Hubs where ticket sales are involved, a specific process needs to be followed. In these cases, the money collected from ticket sales will initially be directed to Blocksquare's bank account. After the event, the funds will then be transferred to the Regional Hub's wallet address in the form of USDC/USDT/DAI. This arrangement is necessary because Eventbrite only allows one set of bank details per account.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Please note that Blocksquare reserves the right to decide which stablecoin to use when making the transaction.
{% endhint %}

Here's how the process works:

### **Ticket sales and revenue collection**

When a Regional Hub organizes an event with ticket sales, all revenue generated from ticket purchases will be collected into Blocksquare's bank account.

### **Post-event fund transfer**

Once the event concludes, the sales amount will be converted into the selected stablecoin and transferred to the Hub’s registered wallet.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
Note all ticket sales proceeds are subject to a 25% deduction, covering:

It is therefore important for each Regional Hub to register their one Regional Hub wallet.
{% endhint %}

### **Transparency and ticket sales tracking**

Regional Hubs have complete control over their events and are able to track the number of tickets sold for each specific event they organize. This level of transparency allows Regional Hubs to monitor their ticket sales and gain insights into the success of their events.

# Code of conduct

As representatives of our DAO, your role as ambassadors is critical in maintaining a positive image and fostering relationships within the Regional Hubs.

To ensure legal compliance and avoid potential issues with regulators and competitors, there are specific guidelines and restrictions you must follow during your work and activities within the Regional Hubs.

This manual aims to inform you about what you should not do.

### **Mentioning potential future price of BST**

As an ambassador, it is crucial to avoid any discussions or communications that may involve speculating on the potential future price of BST. It is essential to always maintain discussions related to the current utility and value of BST rather than its potential value in the future.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Predicting or promoting future price increases might inadvertently categorize BST as a security under regulatory definitions.
{% endhint %}

### **Sharing legal/compliance opinions about Blocksquare**

While it is essential to stay informed about legal and compliance matters, it is strictly prohibited to share or discuss any legal or compliance opinions related to Blocksquare without prior approval from the management board.

{% hint style="warning" %}
This restriction is in place to prevent any unauthorized dissemination of sensitive information and to ensure that only accurate and approved communications are made on behalf of the organization.
{% endhint %}

### **Mentioning of competitive projects**&#x20;

As ambassadors, it is imperative to avoid mentioning or promoting competitive projects or inviting external parties to participate in events organized by our competitors. Always maintain a focus on our organization's initiatives, projects, and events while refraining from endorsing or participating in activities that align with our competitors' interests.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Such actions may inadvertently lead to conflicts of interest and undermine our organization's position in the market.
{% endhint %}

### **Misrepresentation**

Ambassadors should always provide accurate and honest information about Blocksquare's products, services, and initiatives.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Misrepresenting the company or its offerings could lead to trust issues and negatively impact the brand's reputation.
{% endhint %}

### **Confidentiality**

Ambassadors must treat all proprietary and confidential information belonging to Blocksquare with the utmost care and not disclose it to any unauthorized parties. This includes any sensitive data, financial information, or intellectual property.

### **Disclosure of affiliation**

When representing Blocksquare, ambassadors should always disclose their affiliation with the company, making it clear that they are not official employees but rather advocates or representatives.

### **Social media conduct**

When representing Blocksquare on social media platforms or online forums, ambassadors should maintain a respectful and professional tone.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Ambassadors should avoid engaging in inflammatory or offensive discussions that could reflect negatively on the company.
{% endhint %}

### **Respecting intellectual property**

Ambassadors should respect the intellectual property rights of others and avoid using copyrighted material without proper authorization.

### **Engaging in unethical practices**

Ambassadors should never participate in any form of bribery, corruption, or unethical behavior that could tarnish Blocksquare's reputation or violate legal and ethical standards.

## **Compliance and ethical considerations**

It is crucial to remember that these restrictions are not only in place to ensure legal compliance but also to uphold the highest ethical standards in your role as ambassadors.

{% hint style="success" %}
By adhering to these guidelines, you contribute to a positive and professional representation of the organization, enhancing our reputation and trustworthiness.
{% endhint %}

### **Seeking guidance**

If you encounter situations that may potentially breach any of the mentioned restrictions or if you have any doubts about the appropriateness of certain actions, always seek guidance and approval from our team.

Open communication and transparency are essential to ensure that our organization operates within legal and ethical boundaries.

### **Consequences of non-compliance**

Failure to adhere to these guidelines and restrictions may result in disciplinary action and could adversely affect your standing as an ambassador representing our organization.

{% hint style="info" %}
Revoking an individual's role as Regional ambassador is at the sole discretion of the Governance board.
{% endhint %}

## Introduction to Oceanpoint Protocol

Welcome to the Oceanpoint developer documentation! Here, you'll embark on a journey into the world of Oceanpoint Protocol, a platform that seamlessly integrates the realms of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and real estate through innovative web3 solutions.

Oceanpoint stands out in the blockchain space by offering a unique blend of real estate tokenization and DeFi products. Developed and maintained by [Blocksquare](https://blocksquare.io), Oceanpoint leverages the power of Ethereum's smart contracts to create a decentralized, open-end DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization). This approach not only democratizes real estate investments but also introduces novel ways for asset liquidity and yield generation in the DeFi space.

The smart contract codebase for Oceanpoint is [open-source](https://github.com/blocksquare/oceanpoint-contracts), offering transparency and community involvement in its continuous development, and currently maintained by the [Blocksquare](https://blocksquare.io) team.&#x20;

The interface hosted at <https://app.oceanpoint.fi> is at the moment closed source and maintained by the [Blocksquare](https://blocksquare.io) team.

# Governance

### Introduction

The Oceanpoint protocol is governed and upgraded by BST token-holders, using two distinct components; the BST token and the [governance pool](/oceanpoint-pools/about-pool-mechanics/governance-pools/main-pool-sbst) ([OceanStaking](https://etherscan.io/address/0x6f1e92fb8a685aaa0710bad194d7b1aa839f7f8a#code)). Together, these contracts allow the community to propose, vote, and implement changes. Proposals can modify system parameters, support new markets, or add entirely new functionality to the protocol.

### BST

BST is an [ERC-20](https://github.com/ethereum/EIPs/blob/master/EIPS/eip-20.md) token that allows the owner to delegate voting rights to themselve by locking it up for a certain period by using the Governance Pool.

### sBST

sBST is an [ERC-20](https://github.com/ethereum/EIPs/blob/master/EIPS/eip-20.md) token that is represeting the share of BST tokens that a user holds in the governance pool. sBST to BST are having a dynamic exchange rate due to rewards being accured in the governance pool.&#x20;

# Marketplace Pools

### Introduction

Oceanpoint enables everyone to crowd fund their own whitelabel marketplace using the so called Marketplace Pool. The idea behind this pool is that a certified partner that wants to run a white-label marketplace and might lack the funding to do so on their own can raise funds from the community in order to acquire a total of 100.000 sBST (Received from the Governance pool). The 100.000 sBST would mean a 100% discount on the whitelabel marketplace [subscription fee](https://docs.blocksquare.io/certified-partners/pricing/discounts).

The certified partner needs to initiate the marketplace pool with at least 10.000 sBST as collateral their side and a lockup period for which the tokens the users deposit are locked.

Once the pool is initiated by the CP, Oceanpoint will need to configure the marketplace pool campaign, which is made up of start time, the duration of the campaign and also the initial max amount each user can contribute. This is done to ensure that enough users have a chance of participating rather than a single whale filling up the entire pool. The max pledge amount increase over time the longer the pool is already running.

The owner of the pool can either allow the certified partner to withdraw the sBST for their use if the campaign is successful or it can liquidate the certified partner collateral in case of a failed campaign.

If a campaign is successful, rewards will be added to the marketplace pool and distribute among all participants.

### Key Events

<table><thead><tr><th width="519">Event</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><code>Capped(uint256 lockEnd)</code></td><td>An event emitted when a pool was successful and will receive rewards.</td></tr><tr><td><code>PoolCampaignConfigured(uint256 startTime, uint256 duration, uint256 maxPledge)</code></td><td>An event emitted when a pool is <a href="#configure-pool-campaign">configured</a></td></tr><tr><td><code>Deposit(address indexed owner, uint256 inAmount, uint256 outAmount)</code></td><td>An event emitted when a <a href="#deposit">deposit</a> has been made </td></tr><tr><td><code>Withdraw(address indexed owner, uint256 inAmount, uint256 outAmount, uint256 reward)</code></td><td>An event emitted when a <a href="#withdraw">withdraw</a> has been made</td></tr><tr><td><code>Reward(address indexed from, uint256 amount)</code></td><td>An event emitted when a <a href="#add-reward">reward</a> is added to the pool</td></tr></tbody></table>

### CP Init

The certified partner needs to initialize the pool in order for users to participate. During the initialization the certified partner needs to add collateral which will get returned in case the pool is considered as successful. A pool is considered successful if 100.000 sBST are added. Otherwise a pool is considered as failed and the certified partner will lose the collateral via a [liquidation](/for-developers/marketplace-pools#liquidate-cp-collateral).

# Security

### Introduction

The security of the Oceanpoint Protocol is our highest priority; our development team, alongside third-party auditors and consultants, has invested considerable effort to create a protocol that we believe is safe and dependable. All contract code and balances are publicly verifiable, and security researchers are eligible for a bug bounty for reporting undiscovered vulnerabilities.

We believe that size, visibility, and time are the true test for the security of a smart contract; please exercise caution, and make your own determination of security and suitability.

### Audits

The Oceanpoint Protocol has been reviewed & audited by [Hacken](https://www.hacken.io/).

# Frequently Asked Questions

Here is a list of most frequent questions. If you see an important answer is missing, feel free to get in touch.

# What is Oceanpoint?

Oceanpoint is a comprehensive ecosystem governed by the BST token. As the protocol connecting real estate assets with DeFi, it is designed for ease-of-use, longevity, and scale.

Oceanpoint's main purpose is to grow the Total Value Locked (TVL) in decentralized finance by adding liquidity to the real estate market, incentivising both sides.

# Blocksquare Token (BST)

The Blocksquare Token BST is the governance token that serves as the basis for the Oceanpoint ecosystem. BST holders To vote on proposals posted on [Snapshot](https://snapshot.org/#/blocksquare.eth), BST holders need to first deposit and stake their tokens in the Governance pool. Staking also enables BST holders to passively accumulate more BST as the protocol grows.

### **How do I earn BST tokens?**

There are three ways to earn BST tokens:

* **Participating in Oceanpoint pools.** Each listed pool is assigned a share of all BST tokens accumulated for rewards and distributed to participants proportionate to size of stake in a specific pool.
* **Providing liquidity.** Liquidity Providers to the BST-ETH Uniswap pair are incentivized with BST similarly to other pools. *Note: The trading pair will be incentivized only after v0.2 is launched.*
* **Staking your BST.** Users can deposit their tokens to the Governance pool. Staking BST enables token holders to passively accumulate more BST as the protocol grows and receive sBST to vote on proposals posted on [Snapshot](https://snapshot.org/#/blocksquare.eth).

#### **How will I receive my BST tokens?**

BST tokens are 'deposited' to pool participants, and held by the pool smart contract until a participant broadcasts a transaction to exit the pool, whereupon the BST is delivered to their address.

### What are the BST token metrics?

Please visit [Token metrics](/bst-economics/supply-issuance-and-rewards#bst-token-metrics) section for more details.

### Where can I purchase BST?

At the moment, BST can be purchased via the following Decentralized Exchanges:

<table><thead><tr><th width="150">Exchange logo</th><th width="150">Trading pair</th><th width="377.2">Link</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><img src="/files/uL5hjWZtBVK1xppipp3a" alt="" data-size="line"></td><td>BST:ETH</td><td><a href="https://go.blocksquare.io/uniswap">https://go.blocksquare.io/uniswap</a></td></tr><tr><td><img src="/files/09nDWe2r2wMIqPFNG6kc" alt="" data-size="line"></td><td>BST:ETH</td><td><a href="https://app.1inch.io/#/1/swap/ETH/BST">https://app.1inch.io/#/1/swap/ETH/BST</a></td></tr><tr><td><img src="/files/nnQU144e7gtb0F93ASVi" alt="" data-size="line"></td><td>BST:ETH</td><td><a href="https://matcha.xyz/markets/1/0x509a38b7a1cc0dcd83aa9d06214663d9ec7c7f4a">https://matcha.xyz/markets/BST</a></td></tr><tr><td><img src="/files/uL5hjWZtBVK1xppipp3a" alt="" data-size="line"></td><td>BST:DAI</td><td>coming soon</td></tr></tbody></table>

### **What is sBST?**

sBST can be obtained by participating in the Governance pool, a revenue-sharing mechanism that rewards BST holders with additional BST when they deposit their tokens in it. By staking BST, you will get sBST, a tokenized share of the Governance pool that enables you to vote on protocol proposals.

# Protocol governance

### **Who makes decisions about what happens with Oceanpoint?**

Initially, the founding team will govern the project, but will do so in close collaboration with the community. This is a hard decision to make, but seeing how other tokens have had widespread difficulties with community governance on day one, the safest route seems to be keeping Oceanpoint under the team's wing immediately after launch and gradually implement smart contracts that enable us to turn governance completely over to the community.

{% hint style="success" %}
See [Decentralization plan and roadmap page](/community/decentralization-plan) to learn more.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### **Who governs the BST treasury?**&#x20;

At launch, the co-founders from the Blocksquare team have jurisdiction over the rewards. As Oceanpoint transitions to community governance, the jurisdiction will move to a multisig wallet governed by members of the team, advisors and community representatives.

{% hint style="success" %}
[The decentralization plan](/community/decentralization-plan) involves moving governance to a multisig wallet, e.g. [Gnosis Safe](https://gnosis-safe.io/), once the Governance Board is established.

### **Can I propose new products or strategies to be added to Oceanpoint?**&#x20;

New products and strategies can be proposed by any holder with 1% of the issued sBST supply. You can hold these sBST tokens yourself, have other sBST holders delegate tokens to table your proposal, or a combination of both.

On day 1, before any meaningful portion of the supply has been issued, proposals will be initiated by the Oceanpoint team. We are eager to transition to community governance, at which point BST community members will be able to create formal proposals for a new pools, products, or other changes to the ecosystem. The sky's the limit to how Oceanpoint can evolve, and we are excited to see how the community will be able to drive growth.

**How do I vote?**\
\
All sBST tokens are eligible to vote. Users can acquire sBST tokens by staking their BST in the Governance pool. All Oceanpoint Improvement Proposals (OIPs) that are backed by 1% of the total sBST supply will be voted upon by the the community of sBST holders. You can learn more about the voting process in the Voting and Participation section.&#x20;

# Real estate staking

An overview of the most common questions received regarding BSPT staking on Oceanpoint.

Oceanpoint enables real estate owners to create an additional income stream. By tokenizing your real estate property you are now able to earn an emerging crypto currency. The best part? For a limited time, all tokenization costs are covered by Blocksquare.

#### Is the 6-month lock-up period mandatory when staking BSPT tokens?

Yes. Currently the contract is set to a 6-months term through which withdrawal of staked BSPT is not possible. After the lock-up period ends, you will be able to execute a withdrawal transaction and unstake your BSPT.

#### Why have you decided to issue 10,000 BSPT to an owner of a tokenized property?

Tokenizing 10% of a real estate asset's value seems the safest possible fraction and simplifies due diligence on the property title and capital stack structure. As a rule of thumb, real estate lenders (e.g. banks) usually require that the owner has at least 20% of equity in the asset. This means going for 10% mitigates potential issues and ensures we are tokenizing in the safest possible manner.

#### What is the amount of BST tokens I will earn per month when tokenizing a property worth USD 1,000,000?

It is hard to estimate your earnings rate, as monthly rewards per user vary depending on the BSPT holder's pool share. What is fixed is the amount of BST going into the BSPT staking pool, which is 250,000 BST / month. The larger the AUT (Assets Under Tokenization), the lower the amount of BST a user might receive.

*The above is only a simulation and actual results might differ. Total rewards are subject to change depending on DAO governance rulings.*

*Monthly rewards per user vary depending on a user’s pool share. The larger the AUT, the lower the amount of BST a user might receive.*

*All rewards are paid out in BST and their USD value is subject to market conditions, however 1 BST will always be 1 BST.*
{% endhint %}

#### Can I keep staking my BSPT tokens after the six months to continue receiving BST tokens?

In short, yes. After the 6 month period is over, you can also decide to keep staking, however, profitability might be much lower and your incentive might be shifted towards other pools on Oceanpoint. For instance, providing liquidity for both BST and POINT tokens will be greatly incentivised as liquidity is deemed the core feature of Oceanpoint.

#### How will I get compensated if I sell my BSPT tokens to Oceanpoint?

Selling BSPT to Oceanpoint will be possible with the release of v0.4 and subject to community due diligence. If one is selling 5,000 BSPT tokens of a real estate property valued at 1,000,000 USD, then Oceanpoint will compensate the seller with 50,000 POINT tokens, that can then be swapped into DAI, USDC or other coins via Uniswap, Balancer or other supported AMM pools.

{% hint style="info" %}
1 POINT can always be used to buy 1 USD worth of BSPT tokens from Oceanpoint, as long as the purchaser has completed KYC and wallet registration for the issuer.
{% endhint %}

#### How will I get compensated if I organize a BSPT offering via Oceanpoint marketplace?

Token sales on the Oceanpoint marketplace will be possible only in exchange for DAI and subject to thorough due diligence processing.

#### How are valuations of tokenized properties done?

When BSPT are sold to Oceanpoint and/or other investors via token offering, the issuer shall maintain a valuation report not older than 12 months for the Real Estate property and make it accessible whenever requested to any existing token holder. The report should be executed by a licensed valuator registered with IVSC, RICS or equivalent organization.
